Without any further information before Alfred dropped the call, Bruce spent the entire drive in a state of barely-controlled panic. Eleven and a half minutes, from the streets of Gotham proper back across the river into Bristol, from deserted roads down into the Cave entrance. Eleven and a half minutes. He couldn’t have said what, precisely, he expected to find on the far end, but it certainly couldn’t be anything good.
Certainly not a child.
“Helena Martha Wayne,” Alfred informed him softly, when he stopped Bruce a good ten steps away from the computer and the girl sitting huddled and miserable in the chair. “She claims to be from another universe.”
