He noticed others being startled, too. Hen flinched and looked around even though no one stood close to her. At some point, Bobby looked down at his chest and smiled to himself, confused. Both Ravi and Chim flushed with a grimace on their faces after teasing Buck about something.

The first time it happens, Eddie doesn’t know what comes over him. It’s like he’s possessed.
His phone rings while he’s folding laundry, pairing together two of Buck’s dog-themed socks when he answers and hears, “Hi, is this Eddie Diaz?”
“Yes,” he responds.
“Hi, this is Claire Thornton with Thornton & Duncan Realty, I’m calling for a reference for Mr. Evan Buckley? He’s applied to one of our properties recently, so we’re reaching out before approval,” the woman on the other end of the line says.
Eddie’s stomach drops. Then the possession happens. “Oh, uh. Evan Buckley. Right.”
Claire chuckles. “That doesn’t sound like a great start.”
“I- listen. He’s a good guy, but an awful tenant,” Eddie feels like he’s watching himself from outside his body as the words leave his mouth. What is he doing?
