Summary
Taking the fight to the Collectors themselves was by all accounts a suicide mission: There was no guarantee of success, no guarantee of coming out of it alive, and yet, the mission was proceeding as planned as the team advanced deeper into the bowels of the Collectors' base. After a close call, and Miranda sustaining an unexpected injury, all that remains is venturing forth into its very heart, to the main control console, to end the Collector threat once and for all.
During some downtime, Commander John Shepard and Miranda find themselves discussing more than the mission: their very relationship, and what could happen to them if they made it out of there alive. And yet he finds himself faced with one impossible decision: what to do with her. He knows in his heart he wants nothing more than for her to be by his side at the end, but after seeing her hurt, the realisation he could lose her becomes all too real, and almost too much to bear.
Completing the mission and stopping the Collectors, a mission that had been months in the making, had become more to him than just doing his duty, it had become personal - all because of her. They had started it together, would it finish the same way?
