The day after Geshu Lin's death, Jiyan wakes at six A.M., as usual. It’s as ordinary a morning as any.
That is, until Geshu Lin turns up, alive and real and touchable, at his door. There are a million things that Jiyan could say, one of which is I saw you die, but the only thing he manages to choke out is: “Why are you here?”
Geshu Lin frowns. “I’m here, Jiyan, because in case you forgot — today is the dawn of our most decisive battle yet, and you took the liberty of excusing yourself from our strategy meeting an hour ago. Tell me, do you think the Ovathrax will kill itself?”
When Jiyan watches Geshu Lin die at the Threnodian's hands, he wishes he could have had just a bit more time — to tell him everything he'd never had the chance to. He's given much more time than he bargains for.
