"Von Hiedl," she muttered in return, looking back at the Expositor with a hint of doubt in her expression.
Dairon met his gaze again. "So this is one of your 'Volstrucker'. I had my suspicions- and of course, they were too smart to talk. But I figured that you would be able to help this little investigation."
Henrik was about to bite back, to say that they weren't 'his' Volstrucker- but they were as much his as anyone's. The jagged scars on Rena's exposed arms were enough to prove it.
Henrik's gaze didn't waver. "Will you leave us, Expositor? I would like to speak to her one-on-one."

If you have even the slightest ounce of interest in Shadowgast, read this. I beg of you. I spent three months campaigning to get my rec-resistant roommate to read this, because I knew she would like it and it would be worth it, after I discovered this fic partway through completion and followed the fic's updates thereafter with rabid anticipation.
I promise you, your life will be sweeter for having read this. Please, do yourself a favour. (If somehow you're on the fence, give the chapter titles a peek. They are masterpieces.)
