“What are you looking for?” Aredhel would ask him, and Fingon would wave her off with a half hearted, “Just enjoying the sky.” He meant it as little as he was sure she believed it, but just as he never asked why she watched the woods, she never asked why he watched the sky.

Summary
Maitimo knows he is not in his own bed even before he is fully awake. He is cold, freezing cold, as no elf in Aman could ever be. It doesn’t get cold in blessed Valinórë and yet Maitimo shivers, reaching out for a blanket that is not there. His right forearm hits hard, icy stone. His right hand hits nothing.
In a far too soft bed, under the pure golden light of Laurelin in a Tirion of many years ago, Maedhros opens his eyes. He digs his right hand into the folds of unfamiliar bedsheets, and knows immediately that something is wrong.

Maitimo in Amon Ereb in a Beleriand that he does not yet know must figure out how to get back to his own body while trying to understand the horror that his future self has become.
Maedhros in an Aman he thought long dead rushes to fix the mistakes that ended up dooming his line and costing him nearly everyone he ever loved.

Summary
Maedhros is eighteen months out of an abusive relationship, but he's doing well. He's going to therapy regularly. He's living on his own, and he's getting his doctorate in linguistics. Sure, he's still got issues with sleep, food, self-esteem, dating, and sex, but who doesn't have issues with those things? Besides, his new roommate Fingon is great to have around and seems surprisingly invested in being his friend. Sure, Fingon is straight and has a girlfriend, but Maedhros doesn't mind. He's not ready to date again anyway, and Fingon is such a good friend.
All the sex that eventually takes place between Maedhros and Fingon is consensual. The r/nc tag refers to past events, as well as flashbacks, nightmares, and recollections about them.
The title comes from Maggie Rogers’ new song, “Anywhere With You.”
