Summary
Jackie wasn't necessarily unaccustomed to feeling numb. It was a necessity for living, in her opinion. She thinks the numbness might be half of the reason why she likes soccer to begin with, because that's a pleasant numbness, your body exhausted and your ears buzzing with victory and blocking any sound that stings too much, and it was another part of her life to share with Shauna.
It makes sense then, in a ironic way that's been the law since they crashed into these fucking woods, that Shauna is the reason she has to be numb like she never was before.
She is numb as she gets up, and she doesn't put on her shoes. She is numb as she runs through the attic and down the ladder, and the complaining of her girls might as well be silence. She doesn't feel anything as she opens the door to the outside, as she walks barefoot in the snow, and as she brushes the snow off a cold body.
She is numb as she screams. And she doesn't feel anything.

When he realises he's attracted to Jack Frost, he doesn't even try. Liking Jack is probably the best thing to have happened to him for some time.

Summary
Years have passed since the defeat of The One Who Waits, usurped by his vessel now crowned infant God of Death. The Lamb is kind and forgiving, perhaps a little more than they should be, allowing mercy for not one, but two of their (near) extinctors.
Leshy had been rescued from his personal purgatory in slightly more recent years. The rescue of the bishops is slow, the lamb's progress halting upon the latest godly arrival. It took a lot of effort, and even more patience to get where they are now.
Not exactly friends, not entirely enemies, Lamb and the worm have a ways to go yet. Leshy is growing less and less content with the duties that come with being a member of The Lamb's flock, acting out and misbehaving- The lamb is starting to think it's more than overstimulation. They've worked so hard to get to this point...
But it's hard to appease chaos incarnate.
At least, they thought it was.
