Buck swallowed, hard, fighting down the rising tide of panic. What was going wrong? Eddie didn’t want him? Eddie was mad at him, sure, but this is what Buck was good at. This is what Buck was for, when it came down to it. Nothing but bones and marrow and the muscles that encased them. His body was why he’d been made, and his body was what he had to offer, and if Eddie didn’t want that, then what would be left?

He trusts Henry with his life without a thought. But he trusts him with more than that too. He trusts that Henry cares about more than his continued existence. He cares about Alex’s desperate drive and his inane insecurities and all of the vulnerabilities he scrambles to keep out of sight.
He trusts Henry with the pieces of himself he thought would destroy him if anyone ever saw.
He nods, and something in his expression must give away how earnestly he feels his answer, because Henry’s smile softens.
“Sweet boy,” Henry murmurs. There’s a glow in Alex’s chest at the soft words. “I’m going to hold your book, and you’re going to kneel here and read for me. Do you understand?”

Summary
While in El Paso after running away from home to his grandparents, Chris stews in his anger towards his dad. However, the room he is staying in used to be Eddie’s and Chris stumbles across his high school diary. While he starts reading it to see if his dad ever wrote down anything embarrassing, it causes him to realize how different his childhood has been form Eddie’s, that his family isn’t what he always thought it had been. And that the bridge between him and Eddie isn’t as burnt and the damage not as permanent as Eddie fears.
AKA: a view of season 8A from Chris’s perspective where he starts to get a look behind the curtain of the generational trauma his family holds and finds some grace and forgiveness for Eddie along the way.

“Find Medusa?” Percy spluttered, trying and failing not to sound indignant. “Nobody wants to find Medusa. You run into Medusa while trying to retrieve your uncle’s stolen lightning bolt and then mail her head to the gods after she keeps talking about how your eyes are like your father’s.”
From behind him, Piper raised a single finger. “When you mail what to whom?”
Percy glanced over his shoulder to give her a shrug. “Don’t worry about it. I was twelve,” he said before turning back to where Gabe was still fighting against the ropes binding his hands together. “Do you have any idea what to do with him?”
Nico leaned over, craning his neck to better peer at the hot sauce that still stained Gabe’s face despite the years of statue-ification. “Um, we could see if your dad wants to turn him into a fish or something?”
Percy grimaced. If Gabe Ugliano was a fish, then he’d be forced to hear the man’s voice in his head for years to come. But also, he could maybe mount him on a wall, so perhaps it wasn’t an entirely terrible idea.
Or
Medusa’s sculptures are mysteriously coming back to life. Percy doesn’t think murder is an unreasonable action given the circumstances.
