He thinks about (and scares himself, for a second, with the potency of it) the way it feels when Richie drapes himself over him when they’re gathered at the quarry or the clubhouse. The way his chin rests on the top of Eddie’s head and his chest presses to his back and his stupid bony arms cross in front of him to hold him in place even though they both know Eddie isn’t going anywhere. How he wouldn’t give up that kind of contact with Richie for the world.

“Do you wanna practice?” he asks, slowly, weighing each word carefully before it leaves his mouth (though perhaps not as carefully as he should).
Richie shrugs again. “It’d be nice.”
Eddie stares at him for what seems to be a very, very long time -- stares at his vibrant eyes behind his crooked glasses and the faint dark patches on his cheeks and jaw where he needs to shave, his lips that he keeps wetting with his tongue, and some deep-down, too-clever part of him is aware of the opportunity presented to him and what can be gained from it, but mostly he’s thinking, one day I might be in a relationship, and when that person wants to kiss me -- or more -- I want to be prepared. So he finally swallows down his qualms and asks, “Do you wanna practice… together?”

But sometimes he feels like this and he doesn’t know what else to do but give in. To put himself as close to Richie as possible. To get in his space. Be a nuisance. Draw Richie’s attention towards him so he can feel the strange high it creates, the way his heart seizes in his chest when Richie looks at him long enough and his skin gets all electrified when Richie touches him.
The intensity of it always scares him. Makes him feel brittle and fragile, like a moth's wings. He could just give in.
Sometimes he does give in.
That's what scares him the most, is when he can't resist temptation.
He prays loudest during the “Our Father” to make sure his mom can hear him pleading with a God that doesn't exist to lead us not into temptation.

Eddie doesn’t want to be one of those men that Richie brings home from the bar. He’s Richie’s friend, his roommate, he’s a fixture in Richie’s life in a way that those men never will be.
And if sometimes he lies in bed at night listening to Richie fucking *whoever* through the wall and grinds the heel of his hand into his dick so hard that tears pool at the corners of his eyes - well, that’s neither here nor there. He’s thought about Richie every single time he’s touched himself for the last 12 or 13 years, so really this isn’t that much worse.
If he closes his eyes he can almost imagine Richie’s in here with him. Not next door with someone else.

Summary
Eddie Kaspbrak has had a fear of being touched for the greater majority of his life, with very good reason. Touching someone who's meant to die before their time results in horrible, immersive visions of exactly how it happens. When he's rescued by a good simaritan who's death is by far one of the worst he's ever experienced, he's going to have to push past his fear and go against every rule he's given himself to prevent it from happening.
