Why am I so fucking cold?
I must have kicked it off. Jo slapped her hand around on the cold, rock floor feeling for the comforter.
Is that Rock?
Her eyes slowly opened in confusion.
Glancing around, she saw mostly darkness and shadow. From a distant corner she caught the flicker of torchlight dancing against the wall sending out a weak light for her to see by.
Okay floor, walls, and jail doors?
Wait…jail doors?
Where the fuck am I?
That last glass of wine was a real kicker. Reaching up to rub her forehead, she felt a sharp stabbing pain shoot from her left-hand straight up her arm when she tried to move it. Yeowch, son-of-a-motherless goat! She hissed out her clenched teeth. She tried again to pull her hand up and found both her wrists shackled together.
What the fuck is going on? Pulling both her hands up to look at the one that hurt, a bright, green pissed off mark of some sort shot little sparks of fire out of it. -

How much worse can it get – really? I’ve been shot by a punk kid for forty bucks and I am currently chained to a cold damp floor. Yup…pretty sure it cannot get much worse. The tall woman strode towards her and grabbed her by the front of her scrubs yelling into her face.
“Who sent you?”
Nope – I take that back…it can get much worse, she realized as she stared at the angry hazel eyes mere inches from her face. Screw it...she did not care about any of it – she stared at the moaning, sweating man across from her and pointed her chin at him.
“If you would just remove these things, I might be able to help him,” she said quickly.
The dark haired woman almost snarled at her before releasing her.
Well okay then – I will take that as a no...you will not be removing the jewelry.

Summary
Mariah was always a fiesty mage who, after spending the first 12 years of her life training to be a Templar, was forced into a world shed been taught to despise. Life in the Circle wasn't easy for the former Templar, as the other mages, apprentices and enchanters alike, resented her for training that had been forced upon her at the age of 4.
Fights were inevitable, some she started, and most, she finished. The other Templars wanted her to go through the Rite of Tranquility, as she wasn't afraid to use her magic when attacking her opponents. Senior Enchanter Lydia took her under her wing though, promising the Knight Commander that if she couldn't ease the girl's urge for conflict, she herself would see the girl to the chamber so the Rite of Tranquility could be performed.
Now, accused of killing the Divine, that same fire has re emerged. Only time will tell if the Commander can tame her infernuous spirit...
PS. The epilogue is presently in the works...
(As a side note, and for reasons I don't understand, I wrote the Fallow Mire chapter twice. When reading, just pick your favorite version and continue on from there ^.^ )
