“What’s goin’ on?”
It’s Dutch, much to your dismay. He’s covered in snow, his black jacket and hair encrusted with it, and the skin of his face is a bright red from where it has been nipped at by the cold. At his presence, you bring your hands to your knees, digging your nails into the skin to find some notion of relief as the ache within you grows deeper and deeper.
“A late presentation,” Hosea murmurs, his voice too loud in your ears, “It looks like we have a brand-new omega in heat on our hands.”
A cry escapes you at that, because how can this even be possible?

“Cougars in these parts,” Charles breathed, suppressing a shiver as Arthur’s hand trailed his shoulder, caressing him over the thin cotton of his shirt. “Leave off, Arthur.”
Arthur dropped to kneel behind Charles, front pressed against his back.
“C’mon, sunshine,” he whispered, nibbling against Charles' earlobe. “Been a week since I last held ya. Don’t your body miss mine?”
Charles is pulling guard the night after rescuing Arthur from jail. A certain no-good cowboy offers him some company.

“You’re an interesting feller.” Arthur blurted, alcohol making his inhibitions loose.
Looking taken aback, Charles’ brows pinched together. “Interesting.” He repeated.
Well he can't very well take it back now. “Yeah,” he agreed, “interesting. Quiet, observant…” Arthur murmured about the basics of the man, “but also,” he begins to speak in ways that perhaps indicate Arthur’s observant too - specifically of Charles, “you’re always thinkin’, I can tell. You keep it all up in that head of yours and I wonder what goes on in there.” He went on.
“You’ve had a bit to drink.” Charles assessed.
Arthur chuckled. “Maybe.” He conceded. “But it's true. You got me curious.”

“It’s selfish,” Arthur breathes.
“Tell me anyway.”
“Want you to stay with me. With us, I mean. Don’t want you to leave ever.”
Charles gets it now. Arthur loves him just not in the way Charles loves him back. Arthur loves him as a companion, a dearest friend. This is how men are supposed to love each other.
“Okay,” Charles says matter-of-factly, and pulls his shirt over his head. “I won’t leave ever. Let’s get some sleep.”:::::::
Charles has a bad night with a working girl. Arthur, secretly desperately in love with him, hears it all.
