Just as he finished his sentence, he darted forward, and landed a peck on the unsuspecting Xia Fei’s cheek.

He didn’t know why he’d thought otherwise, really. Shou just seemed like one of those enigmas of people who showed up in your life, changed it fundamentally, then disappeared with the next breeze. It had happened with them before; staring each other down across a hallway, watching bubbles of gravity pop like soap, like they were air, like they were nothing. And blue eyes, levelled at him, studying him, and no one else, like he was something, the meaning clear as he faded out of existence again; I’ll be seeing you again.
And Shou did show up again, with two days spent at the end of everything, in camaraderie, becoming the only allies the other had.

A pair of hands suddenly lifts him by the scruff of his neck. Xia Fei yelps in surprise as he finds himself face-to-face with a man whose smile is a little too wide. His long hair is neatly braided over his shoulder, and a single earring dangles from his ear. The glint in his eyes is sharp with interest.
“A puppy?” the man muses.
Xia Fei growls, ready to bite that smug grin off his face. But before he can act, the man pulls him close, cradling him against his chest. He gently strokes his fur, completely unfazed by the grime. The muscles that had been tense immediately relax, Xia Fei’s defenses melting away in the warmth of the man’s embrace.
He helplessly snuggles in closer.
The man lets out a sigh. “What am I to do if you can’t take care of yourself...? I guess I’ll just have to take you in.”
Cold and wet puppy Xia Fei gets picked up by a stranger one ordinary day.

AITA for potentially being insensitive to my crush?
I (19M) had a falling out with my crush (19M) recently. My older brother likes to use this site to get opinions after arguments with his girlfriends, so I thought I’d give it a shot as I am not sure how to proceed.
For context, I work for my father in our family business and a few weeks ago I was picking up a business partner from the airport as part of our work. While there I ran into some people relevant to our business also arriving to stay in the country for work reasons. I decided I needed to keep an eye on them and reached out to a contact specialising in tailing services; enter my crush.
