Summary
Merlin is arrested for sorcery in Camelot. He is supposed to be executed at dawn, and he is-- except somehow he survives.
The only problem is there's a new prophecy this time, one that keeps Merlin away from everyone he knows and loves.When the prophecy allows them to reunite again, Arthur and Merlin start on their journey to right a generation of wrongs, and find out what exactly a manservant could mean to his prince.

Summary
When Arthur Pendragon, Crowned Prince of Camelot, manages to piss off his father again, it's the last straw. To teach him a lesson, Uther sends his son to the American Midwest to enroll in a standard university and see what life would really be like without his money, fame, and power. And Arthur is determined to prove that he can survive on his own.
Afraid that he may still be recognized in this far-off place, Arthur decides to attend University in disguise-- he will hide his face in bulky black glasses. No one will be the wiser.
The consequence, however, is he is no longer getting special treatment. And certainly not from fellow student Merlin, after their disastrous drunken run-in. The more time that passes makes Arthur more and more interested. Can he ever win him over? And if he does, will the reveal of his identity be too much to handle?

Summary
Merlin's body is reeling, the air rushing out of his lungs as he falls backward, and he only has time for one last act. One last move to make it all worth it.
He exhales harshly, grits his teeth, and within a single second a mass of pent up anger and love and loss is catapulting into Nimueh, and as his back snaps against the stone wall of the well and his heart lurches from where he dangles over the big dark deep, he hears the sound of a body falling and knows that he has won.
And like God is laughing at him, he tumbles. Down, down, down.

Merlin, after a battle with Nimueh leaves him trapped in a water well with no way out, reflects on his life and death. Arthur, miles away in the castle, wonders where Merlin has gone to. The clock is ticking, and Arthur is running out of time to reach him.

This story was inspired by the thought of Prince William of Wales (and indeed the current Max von Hapsburg) studying at the University of St Andrews; it is also, as the title suggests, at least a little inspired by the operetta 'The Student Prince'.

::2019 note: This story was written BEFORE the TV show introduced the character of Gwaine. It's not that I can't spell, or that I'm perversely writing him out of character - I incorporated other characters from Arthurian legend (Kay, Gawain etc) into my story, and lacking prophetic abilities, my versions naturally don't mesh with the versions subsequently introduced into the show.::
