Summary
It was a truth that Demetri had somewhat known but hadn’t entirely accepted, when he sent off his application to CalTech: it didn’t make sense for him to go to a place where Eli Moskowitz wasn’t. As smart and logical as he was, Eli was more of a priority than any robotics programme could possibly be. As stubborn and rigid as he was, he’d find a way to change his plans in a millisecond if it meant that Eli was happy. And, as crazy as it was to realise it, all his questions had the same answer. He loved Eli, and the thrill of unearthing that feeling scared the crap out of him.
Or, what really happened when Demetri and Yasmine hooked up for the final time at the Sekai Taikai.

Eli was aware that there’d be a certain level of opposition facing him when he joined Miyagi-Do. However, what he wasn’t prepared for was the bigotry - it was commonplace under Johnny Lawrence, so it made sense for the Eagle Fang students to be spouting all this crap, but Miyagi-Do as well? Chris and Mitch were seriously getting on his nerves.
Or, Chris and Mitch make a lot of gay jokes. Eli thinks he knows why.

Summary
Demetri wasn’t quite sure when every thought he had managed to find its way back to Hawk, but that was how his brain was wired now, and he didn’t know how to stop it from happening. It had occurred naturally, and was unlike anything he’d be able to effectively oppose: it had become a universally acknowledged truth that any path he walked down started and ended with Hawk.
Or, Demetri doesn't quite know how he's supposed to feel about Hawk.

Any other superpower would have been better, really. Fire-wielding, telekinesis— even growing an extra arm would have been preferable to mind-reading.
Will hates his newfound powers, and he hates the constant headaches that come with them, and he hates the weird thoughts and feelings he never even wanted to know about in the first place that constantly invade his mind. He hates it all, but he can’t escape his own brain— so short of removing his head entirely, what can he even do to change it?
But— thankfully— with a little help from his friends, and a lot of pain from Mike Wheeler, Will learns to control his telepathy— and, maybe, learns a little too much from his best-friend-slash-lifelong-love’s intricately confusing mind.

“It was El who broke up with you, though. It’s not like it’s your fault she fell out of love,” Will offered. “That was what she said right?”
For a second their eyes met, but Mike quickly glanced away. He’d been doing that more often recently. Will could understand. Holding eye contact lately… ever since they were spending nights lying awake next to each other, sometimes talking, but mostly pretending to sleep… Let’s say it felt harder than usual to hold Mike’s gaze for him as well.
“… Yes,” Mike answered. “Right. She said that,” he added as if to remind himself.
A loud snort from the main hall pierced through their conversation. “Oh, please.” Murray mocked from the couch. Will and Mike both turned their heads to stare at him with pinched expressions.
“What?” Murray exclaimed. “Falling out of love is not the reason El broke up with you.”OR: Mike and Will get Murray’d and deal with the consequences.
