He knew the last time his wings were preened it was himself. And he knew that he couldn’t get his whole wingspan. He knew it was uncomfortable, he could feel the itch everyday when he was changing. It was irritating, but it was fine. He didn’t really have anyone to preen anyway.

It hurt sometimes. To have so many thoughts yelling at you. Arguing about things you never thought to think about. Like how you wanted to look different and for people to see you in a new way. But not understand what it all meant. Because how could you understand?
Wilbur felt like this. He thought those thoughts. Being a teenager sucked ass. But maybe it would be better to face the truth. Fundy seems to understand it all to well.
“Wilbur have you ever felt like you were born the wrong gender?”
“Wa-what are you implying?”
