The surgeon arrived as they were pulling off the remains of Smokey's shirt, and even through the chaos, Hiroto noticed their hands hesitate. A quick peek through their shifting bodies showed that Smokey had been wearing something underneath his clothes — a dark, tight material clinging to his chest, ripped open along the wound and soaked through with blood.
"Smokey…" said one of the boys — Takeshi, thought Hiroto. He had a boyish face and mistrustful eyes, but his gaze when he turned to Smokey was nothing but gentle. "Your binder…"
Hiroto cocked his head. Smokey, facedown on the mattress, gripped the metal bars of the bedframe and rasped, "Cut it off."

"Don't worry," said Uki as more tentacles skimmed just beneath the surface, blooming around him like a hideous, enchanting flower. "I am venomous, but unlike common medusae, they won't sting you unless I let them."

L disconnects him from the rest of the installation to begin a historic interrogation, but Kira might not be as defanged as L believes.
