Summary
The moment Light writes in the death note he becomes a killer, but he could not become Kira without L. (L/Light, slow burn — Yotsuba Arc with all the mind-games intact)
"The thing about getting rid of useless pride is that it is a scaffolding built of years. It takes more than the work of a moment; though you are begging in the windowless cell. What was I thinking, putting myself in here? You don’t remember. It’s beginning to disturb you, how much you don’t remember; although when you close your eyes and follow the trail—one event follows upon the other just as you had expected it to; and you can even recall the first time Kira killed, when all you saw was a reporter’s face through the screen of your TV. It was the end of your boredom, because though you were nothing but a spectator to the great battle, you already felt how Kira and L would pull you along in their wake just as any battle between titans would (because you would stand within the event horizon, if only to get closer).
Perhaps that is where you are now. In the quiet dark within the black hole, where your self, gaunt and unfamiliar to you, has already irrevocably been altered. (Suspect. Name: Yagami Light.)"

Summary
Light has been under suspicion for a crime he cannot remember - a crime he could never commit. But when evidence is found against his girlfriend, Light has no choice but to prove his innocence beyond a shadow of a doubt. He agrees to lock himself into a cage. But fifty days pass, and the shadows surrounding them grow and darken, hiding the most terrible demons. Despite Light's willing surrender, the detective L's keen eyes still cannot pick out the truth from the lies. What he knows is this: Yagami Light must be Kira, and no matter what it takes, no matter the time he must wait to attain his coveted confession or the lengths he must go to, L will find the truth. And Light will do anything to preserve his own life, to convince L that he isn't Kira, even at the cost of his own sanity. What L and Light fail to consider is that they aren’t fighting the real enemy. They fail to understand that some questions will ruin you; this is a lesson some learn only after they are ruined.
The gods, as it turns out, have a sick sense of humor. One just keeps laughing away.

Summary
Light Yagami is a sigma male. No heats, no ruts, but with all the power and pull of an alpha and omega combined. Light Yagami is beyond the secondary gender system, above hormones and pheromones. Only a man of such superior biology could be the god of a new world.
Until a pair of handcuffs and a certain detective send his body into motion.

Summary
“You’re deranged,” Light muttered, not angry or annoyed, but exasperated. If L had a better ear for tone, he would notice the undercurrent of affection.
They're chained together, still locked in the same psychological warfare. But bruises are treated, lines begin to blur, and suddenly the war isn't just psychological.

Summary
Aloof and introverted (and slightly pessimistic) Police Investigator Rinne Uehara navigated through her life mostly by winging it and grabbing any interesting opportunity that presented itself to her. Her best friend considers it good luck. Was it actually good luck when L decided to work with them to apprehend Kira, or is her fate bound for a certain downward spiral?

Summary
After Light dies instead of being sent to whatever afterlife he is doomed towards he's instead sent back into the past. His ghostly body haunting L and the rest of the task force including his younger self. Light ponders on the subject of why he was sent here in the first place. If this is just some cruel joke or another chance at living. If he was meant to fix things or if this was even real. Maybe its all just some well done mockery of his memories meant to mess with his head. Whatever it is, for now he's stuck here.

Summary
L is a man of reason, not faith. The world wasn’t made in 7 days. There isn’t a god. You don’t go anywhere when you die. But temptation is real. Indulgence is real. Sin. Sin is real.
And L. Lawliet is a sinful man.
Gluttony and pride are his strongest vices; he bears them so openly in the hope of salvation. Then sloth. L goes days without moving sometimes. Envy and greed simmer in his chest, but he calls it ambition.
Only sinners know his wrath. There is no sin in wrath upon the wicked.
But lust…
If L never concedes to lust, perhaps he can die a good man.
He keeps this rhetoric well tucked away. It feels immature, almost like a relic of his childhood, of the church bells and stained glass. His virtue feels more like a splinter than a heirloom, like a shock collar on a dog. A reminder, a warning. Don’t believe the silver-tongued snake.
And most especially, don’t fall for him.

Summary
Light has been under suspicion of being Kira for far too long. After his girlfriend, Misa Amane, falls under suspicion for actual DNA evidence tying her to the case. Light then goes into confinement. And even after he has gone to extreme lengths to prove that there is no way he could be Kira, L still doubts him. Because L just KNOWS Light Yagami is Kira. The only way for L to be assured of Light's innocence or guilt is to become handcuffed to him. And no matter how long it takes, L will get a confession. No matter what he has to do, he will find out the truth. And Light will do anything to save his own life, to convince L that he isn't Kira. Even at the cost of his own sanity. This is all just a game, but a game that could be deadly.
But what L and Light fail to consider is that they aren’t fighting the real enemy.

Summary
It's not that you have a problem with the body you live in. It's a perfectly serviceable body. Its metabolism is a little too fast for your convenience, but it's decently strong and agile and that's all that matters.
It's good, being this way. It's ideal. You are a mind first and foremost and any distractions would only stop you from being more efficient.
Or: L is a girl. She doesn't know. At the very least, she doesn't want to know.
