Chapter 1: Tourist Splatted

Chapter Text

“Hey, Marie, check out all these splinters!” Callie called, pointing to her right hand, which was covered in wood.

The Squidbeak Splatoon had found an island filled with ancient human artifacts and architecture. So far, only the agents, Captain Cuttlefish, and possibly DJ Octavio (he popped in occasionally), were there, but more members and allies were coming soon.

“Ew, gross,” Marie responded.

“You’re no fun!”

“Whatever.”

“Ooh!” Callie exclaimed. She was now rummaging through a closet in the attic of the big house in the woods (the one the Squidbeak Splatoon was staying in). She put on a pink sweater with a shooting star on it. “This is so comfy!” She threw a sweater at Marie’s face. “Hey, try one on!”

“Eh, I prefer this hat,” Marie stated, putting on a blue and white baseball cap with a blue pine tree on the front.

“But that’s basic. I could probably find that in Cooler Heads. This sweater is one of a kind! Just like me!”

Craig entered the room, wearing a red fez. “Do I look good in this or what?”

“How about you ask Octavio?” Callie suggested (though all of the trauma and chaos that had happened to her with Octavio, she still was a matchmaker at heart).

“I already did, squiddo. He said I looked amazing in it, by the way.”

Agent Four suddenly ran into the room, wearing a shirt with a question mark on it. “THIS IS WAY TOO BIG FOR ME, BUT I LOVE IT ANYWAYS! HUMANS HAD SUCH GOOD STYLE!”

“Stop yelling and get back to playing cards with us!” Neo’s voice called from downstairs. “Don’t make me be the third wheel to Eight and Three alone for any longer!”

“On it!” Four called back. Then, she ran back downstairs.

“I wonder when Acht’s gonna get here,” Callie thought aloud. Acht had told the Squidbeak Splatoon they were arriving today.

“Wouldn’t you like to know, cousin. Are you…crushing?”

“No.”

“I’m too lazy to continue pressing you about this.”

“Thank cod!”

“Acht is here!” Agent Eight announced.

“Coming!” Callie called, and ran down the stairs with her cousin right behind her.

They were standing in the doorway, looking the same as always. “‘Sup?”

“The sky!” stated Callie. “So, uh, Acht, wanna go…look in some of the other rooms? There’s one we haven’t explored yet!”

“Sure.”

The two of them walked into another room, which had plenty of papers and knick knacks in it. There was a sculpture of a human with a caption in a foreign language underneath. There was also a printer.

“Oh, let’s see if it still has ink in it,” Acht suggested.

“Only one way to find out!” Callie replied, sticking her arm in to get it photocopied.

It did photocopy. Then, the paper started shaking and the arm crawled out of the paper. Callie threw a burst bomb at it, and the arm disintegrated.

“That was creepy,” Acht remarked.

“Yep. So, wanna pretend this never happened and add this to our already giant list of repressed traumas?”

“Sure,” Acht said, putting on a lumberjack hat.

“You look great in that.”

“I know.”

Acht and Callie walked down to find Agent Four messing around with the vending machine.

“We’re gonna try human food!” Agent Four explained. “Well, once I understand how this works.”

Eight pressed a bunch of buttons at the same time, causing a secret passageway to unlock.

“Woah…” Neo muttered.

The agents walked down the stairs, and went to the lower level of the basement via the elevator.

“What’s that?” Agent Four asked, pointing to a giant upside down, metal triangle thing. It was broken into parts, but it was obvious that the pieces used to belong together.

“This is so much like Alterna,” Neo remarked.

“Ooh, stuff in human script,” Callie commented, taking a few files, and a journal.

She couldn’t understand anything, but this is what it read: file one was about some triangle demon?; file two said, “I have come to believe that Hisashi Nogami is a time traveler, and has created the Splatoon franchise to warn humans of an upcoming apocalypse.”; and the journal had a page that read, “Encountered some strange marine creature people. They didn’t speak English, and kept running away from me.”.

“That’s a lot of writing,” Callie said.

“Eh, this place is kinda boring,” Agent Four stated.

“Who wants to break open the vending machine and try human snacks?” Neo suggested.

Everyone agreed that sounded like a good idea. While this was happening, Octavio and Craig found a stash of Smile Dip, and decided to eat it all. However, this won’t be the weirdest thing to happen.
