Summary
Ever since John Price joined the military, he's always wanted a task force of his own. One that wasn't just put together, one that felt like family. And he may have just gotten his chance. But it won't be as easy as he thought. The military has a stigma against mutants. So what does he do? He gathers the best of them and turns them into one of the best task forces out there. But there are a few issues. One of his sergeants has never used his abilities, the other uses his all the time without even realizing and his second in command uses his abilities to hide behind. Restless nights, lying awake in Mikey’s room. Staring at the wall, lying in his hammock. It was a familiar routine that he’d fallen into, and was about to repeat that same routine again. He walked to the old hammock and lay there for a while. It had been two years since the Kraang invasion. And two years since Mikey’s death. And Leo was still grieving.
He turned in the hammock and pulled the blanket over his shoulders. Everyone was taking Mikey’s death differently, but Leo took it the worst. He died opening the portal to save Leo. He remembered Mikey’s arms were cracked, broken, and his whole body faded away. It was Leo’s fault he died. He died saving Leo, and it broke him. Don and Raph had grieved, sure, but they had finally moved on. It was like watching your life move on without you...

“Not everyone thinks like that.” Raphael grumbled, remembering all the time he was spoken to with hate laced in their words.
“That’s unfortunate and I apologize. People can be so cruel.” Haley casted her eyes downwards. Her socks were getting dirty. ‘Oh well’ she thought with a shrug.
Raphael wanted to be snarky and ask how a rich girl like her could know how cruel the world could be. But then he saw how distant her eyes became, glancing in a far off memory. Whatever this girl has been through, it must’ve been awful.
