Steve was covered in grease up to his armpits, for some reason, and coated with snow that trickled underneath the collar of his varsity jacket and melted down his back in icy rivulets, and the car still would not start.
“Fuck!” he boomed, kicking his tire. “Ow, shit!”
He folded in half, huffing in pain as his big toe throbbed inside his damp chucks, which is how he did not notice the van pulling up.
“Hey, man, what’s up?” a familiar voice called from a rolled-down window. “Need some help?”
Steve squinted at the driver between the particles of snow fluttering in the dark. Brown curls and startling doe eyes, drawn in concern.
“Fr- uh, Munson?”
The boy lifted his eyebrows before cracking an incredulous laugh.
“Sorry!” Steve immediately called out, approaching the open window. “I’m real sorry, man, I, uh… I do need help. Please?”
Munson leaned against the steering wheel in consideration. The tip of his tongue darted out of his mouth to dampen his lips.

Naruto Uzumaki, with the help of Sasuke, Sakura and the new generation, will have to protect his vision of peace as Hokage from enemies that surpass human understanding, for far greater stakes than just the fate of the ninja world.
This is an alternate sequel to Naruto, taking on after The LAST, more focused on Naruto, Sasuke and the Kage council. Some characters from Boruto appear in this story, but are rewritten to fit the different story and atmosphere. -

My friend's eyes narrow slightly, and I clamp my mouth shut so quickly my teeth audibly clack together. Kate takes a step towards me, and I take an instinctive step away.
"If you think for one second that I’m any less fucked up about what happened than you are, then you don’t know me at all, John. They were my boys, too. I’m just as torn up and angry as you are," Kate snarls, jabbing a finger into my chest with enough force to knock me back a step.
"I know," I soothe, holding my hands up placatingly. Kate is furious, chest heaving and nostrils flared.
Out of the two of us, she’s closer to exploding than I am.
Never thought there would come a day when Kate Laswell would lose her shite. Especially not at me, of all people.
