Summary
A bolt of what looks like black lightning slams into the dirt, scorching the area where they had just been standing.
Not the warmest of greetings, but not surprising either.
Gem bares her teeth, raising her wings and looking up towards the house. Pearl is perched on the railing, her sword leveled at a shadowy figure standing in front of the door. The whole world seems to freeze as the shadow’s head tilts. It lifts its hand slowly, pointing a finger at Pearl, and then draws it diagonally across its body. A rip appears and splits across his body. Dark, voidic tentacles erupt from the rip, grab hold of Pearl and yank her in. The rip closes behind her.
“Pearl!” Gem screams.
Or, the man of the forest did not want to be found.

Summary
Rationally, he wasn’t too surprised it came up. To most, the creatures were more akin to mythical beings, nothing most would consider close to real. Honestly, Etho would probably dismiss them as a myth had he not known better. They were pretty prominent in old texts, mentioned most often as beings beyond human understanding, carrying themselves like stone statues unless no eyes were on them. They used to be known, at times even worshipped, though mostly by the more insane or localized bunch, much like Watchers or Listeners. They weren’t in any way tied or affiliated with players, which made them… tricky to worship, Etho supposed. For the better, probably.

Soon, his entire knee would be visible through the gap. Zedaph had been the one to put the hole there. He’d felt so guilty about it and Skizz had felt worse about his friend’s guilt than the hole in his only good pair of pants. Now Impulse caught him staring at that gaping wound in the fabric more and more often.Skizz looked up at him, his mouth set in a grim line and his eyes lit up in determination, “When do we leave?”

“If you will have me, Cleo… take my ties and silks and draw them off. Undress me as you would a mortal man, and I am yours.”
“Undress you?” The words left her in a whisper. “Is such a thing sacred?”
“Yes,” he breathed, and Cleo shuddered despite herself. He gripped her arm, pulling her in. “To take my silks is to possess my heart and soul, as the skins of seal-folk. You remember, of course, how the god of travel and arts stripped the god of war and sky. Make a mortal thing of me.”
Cleo has never seen her husband; the father of her children. He only visits in the dark.

Etho attends a party on Hermitcraft just to chill and vibe with his friends. Then someone just has to bring up karaoke and things went downhill from there. Now Etho is being forced, not by anyone in particular but by the societal pressure of gatherings like this, to sing. In front of everyone. Could this get any worse for him?
Yes, because the sing he must sing is a song that bears his own soul in the words from how many times he's repeated them in his head as he tried to get over his exes. How will he ever cope? (Spoler: He wont)
