Summary
Hank hadn't really expected Connor to come back to the DPD after... Everything. After having his life threatened by Connor's evil doppelganger in Cyberlife Tower, watching another version of Connor slump to the ground with a bullet between his eyes, Hank had gone home, too full of feelings to do anything but watch numbly as the news broadcast the revolution's success. After everything, Connor returned to working by his side, ostensibly more alive that he'd ever been. Detroit was still a mess. Connor still acts the same as ever.
Until Connor sacrifices himself for Hank, and Hank has to grapple with what it means now that Cyberlife is no longer available to replace him.
OR
Connor dies, and the leaders of Jericho make the executive decision to put Connor in an eerily young body. Hank has to learn how to handle it.

It's September 2039, and Connor is slowly but surely finding his place in the world. Gavin is trying just as hard to maintain his.
Connor has integrated into the DPD, into Hank’s home, and into life as a detective.
Gavin would rather forget that Connor and Hank exist altogether than watch his former mentor play house with a robot.
When a distressed suspect nearly kills Hank in the field, Connor and Gavin are assigned as partners in his absence. Is there truly anything that can be done to fix the damage that he's done? Connor doesn't know, but all he can see is the sickening blue blood of his people on his hands. Most humans have their whole lives learning how to deal with and regulate their emotions, whilst he's been thrown in at the deep end having to deal with the guilt of those whose lives ended at his culpable hand.
