Tears were still clouding your eyes, but your body had finally stopped shaking. You uncurled your body, your limbs feeling numb from being in the same position too long, and you examined the photo.
The glass was gone, leaving behind one small piece stuck to the top of the frame. The wood was broken in half at the bottom, hanging on by a small splinter of wood. When the glass broke, it had scraped up the picture a bit.

I open the door to the noisy classroom, only about five minutes late, and silently make my way to my assigned seat in the back of the room. When I’m about to sit down, I see a stranger sitting next to me, looking happy someone took this seat.
“Hi! I’m Cade, I just started here. Would you mind showing me the ropes for this class?”, the new student says with a smile so big it’s almost blinding, but I can still see a nervous glint in their eyes.
“Sure. I’m Anne. What do you need?”, I say, trying not to be completely monotone, but failing hard.
Anne is over doing the same thing day in and day out, just counting the days. A new student in her class might be able to help her, and get her life on track again.
I wrote this for a school competition, and surprisingly I won! (only among 5 students, but shhh) Let's see how the national final goes!

Merlin knew that Arthur was his soulmate. He knew that - he would be really stupid if he didn’t. You can feel your soulmate pain and you get their scars when they got injured and Arthur got injured all the time. So, yeah, Merlin noticed.
During their first fight, the day he moved to Camelot, he tried to pretend that he didn’t, that he hit his head too hard and that extra pain he was getting every time the prince fall down was just an illusion of his mind. And later the Dragon started talking about them being destined to something together and Merlin would need to be really dumb to not realize what Kilgarrah was insinuating.

Aja turned off the sink, taking a moment to examine her features in the mirror. She did not know when she would get used to her fleshy human appearance, but she hoped it would be soon. She poked her nose, moving it from side to side, opened her mouth to look at her teeth. She was a girl now, apparently, whatever that meant.
All she knew for certain was that it meant using certain pronouns and not others. Akiridion pronouns did not, so far as Aja could tell, correspond to gender, but she was still a little unclear on what ‘gender’ was, and had been racking her brains - a funny human idiom - to see if she could think of an Akiridion equivalent.
