Summary
Commander Gabriel Whitfield runs a prison for rebels and dissidents. He considers it his duty to punish these wayward citizens for their traitorous actions of not being obedient to their Absolute Leader and his authority. Gabriel has been a loyal follower of the Absolute Leader and is a strict adherent to his ideology. For the commander, all those who stray from this ideology require correction through severe measures.
Gabriel is happy to be able to serve his Absolute Leader by punishing those who go against his will.

I never failed at keeping promises though; from cradle to grave, from loyal daughter to loyal super soldier, from being innocent till the moment I sacrificed everything for a greater cause. I never faltered. I never hesitated.
“ I’ll keep it this time. I’ll keep that promise to you,” The Winter Soldier said; taking a step towards me with his eyesight razor focused on the gun in my hand. He did not look like himself, but I could not focus enough to determine why he seemed different.

In this story we see a priestess of the Church of the Burning Massacre - the state cult, whose doctrines shape the life and fate of all within - preaches the warcry of Khorne to some recently incorporated subjects. Are they Mighty enough to take the Pact, and partake in the joy of slaughter?
If you have been reading my series about the Office for Ceremonial Calculations (hi to both of yinz!) this one plays it a bit more straight, trying to give a sense of the underlying ideology that guides their actions. Otherwise, I've personally always been interested in how exactly Chaos worshipers self-conceive within the 40k universe, and this story was my attempt to give a Watsonian take on their internal worldview.
