Treech’s voice startled him as Tanner forced back a scowl, he was fine he certainly didn’t need mothering especially not by a traitor twice over. Instead he kept his attention on the flower child at his side, it’s only fair really that if she watches him then he gets to watch her in return. It’s the manner of things; opposites and all that, the others continue to stare awaiting him to answer the stupid lumberjack’s question.
“‘M fine.” He snaps voice uncharacteristically low and piercing as the boom of thunder. “Just a nightmare ‘s all.”
The others glanced between one another and nod, still Lamina doesn’t look away, eyes narrowing as she pulls away from her treacherous kin; she doesn’t believe him. Tanner supposed he can’t really find it in himself to care all that much, let the Sidhe believe what she wants to—it’s of no consequence to him after all.
Not like he really knew her enough to care for her opinion anyway.
(After dying at the hands of Coral and Mizzen, Tanner finds himself back on the train long before the dreaded Games.
More importantly, he’s joined by the girl he had helped murder.)

The name tumbles out of Coriolanus’ mouth before he can stop it, the woman turned—it was her, his father’s cousin, the same one that had disappeared without a trace while on vacation with her family. Alive and well.
“Coryo,” Elektra greets him with a small but genuine smile, “you’ve grown since the last time I saw you.”
The Snow heir could hear the whispers of those behind him, eyes then shifted from their own, towards the girl just behind Elektra. Pup’s tribute if he remembered right, just as the girl turned to face them, revealing warm hazel eyes, with flecks of gold and green.
She could have been Tigris’ miniature if his cousin was just a bit prettier.
Coriolanus swallowed, if his aunt was here then that meant… that the girl behind her was his cousin. He met her once if he remembered correctly, just what was her name? Lamia, right?
He only really remembered how strange he found it and her. Still, she was a Snow and no Snow would enter the Arena.
(Or, Gaul gets more desperate to make the Games more popular and she makes a dangerous decision; parents of the tributes would also be thrown in the Arena. This changes everything.)

For a moment Reaper just stares at what used to be the pair from Seven, Treech with his dark eyes filled with tears, whose whole body practically trembled as he realized just what had happened. His hat clutched tightly in his hands as he squared his shoulders, he was trying to look strong despite the devastating blow dealt, it could have been some Reaper admired in him… Though it also looked as if the slightest touch would cause the boy to crumble.
At Lamina whose usually soft green eyes remain sharp, almost calculating, as she stares at the rest of them. Her body is stiff, nails digging into the denim of her jeans and she is pale, almost ghostly looking as if every part of her were screaming out in protest. Still, she doesn't waver—doesn't look Treech's way, perhaps if she does then she knows she'll well and truly crumble. Reaper pities her somewhat, she had been caught in between a rock and a hard place—forced to choose between her friend and her survival. And only now did she find herself facing the ramifications of what she had done.

He steps onto the stone floor of the Capitol's train station with a not-quite-boyfriend, 22 no longer dead tributes, and a drive to make sure this second chance doesn't go to waste. He'll never be the "last one standing" again, he'll make sure of it.

After the events of When The Clock Stops Ticking (We'll Be Painted Red) (no knowledge of previous installments is necessary to read this, I strive to make this work as a stand-alone), Treech somehow travels back in time to find all the tributes alive and well and about to arrive in the Capitol. Now there's an opportunity to be retraumatized! Reaper, the last person to die in the arena, is the only other person aware of the previous timeline, and together they must convince the other tributes to work together and figure out which mentors to involve so they can save everyone and end the games once and for all. All the while, the two realize a thing or two about just how much deeper the bond they formed on that last day truly goes.
