Sonic’s grin softened, something loose and affectionate curling at the corners of his mouth. He leaned forward, easing his body back up until they were flush again, nose brushing the edge of Shadow’s cheek. A sigh slipped out—blissful, content—and in the space between heartbeats, he felt those strong arms rise to meet him, wrapping around his waist like a closing gate.
