Summary

Tachihara seems to not want to sit in uncomfortable silence though, because his voice fills the room only seconds later, apologetic and encouraging. "Don't worry, it'll be fine. Mer don't bite."
Chuuya blinks. He knows for a fact they do. They have strong, sharp teeth to hook and capture prey. To bite off the scales of fish, the hard shell of tortoises and the fatty blubber of seals. They use them to defend themselves against predators too. The most certainly bite.
Tachihara seems to realise his phrasing mistake, because his face turns into a grimace and his smile drops. "Okay. So maybe they do in the literal sense. But there's no reason to be scared. The Mer here are harmless. Mostly."
[OR : Chuuya is the new hire at a top Mer Research Facility. Dazai is an antisocial Mer who only talks to him.]

Summary
Dazai is a wild merman with a brain, a biting sense of humor, and zero patience for human incompetence. Trapped in a research facility run by well-meaning idiots who think he’s a rare new species, his only joy comes from mocking their flawed studies, spooking his favorite biologist, and silently judging everything through several inches of reinforced glass. It’s not ideal.

One day however they spot something interesting 'A siren' now a merman spotting wasn't usually a big deal as they have all had their fair share of associating with them, hell they even had some working on the ship, but a siren was different case and they had been hired to capture him.

Summary
Dazai floats. The air leaving his lungs, lulling him into a peaceful sleep. The cold waves roaring overhead, sinking him deeper into the dark abyss of the sea. It was calming. Calming in a way that was usually out of his reach.
Most people associate drowning with pain. The burning feeling of all air leaving your lungs as they slowly fill with water. Dazai feels at peace, however.
The water is cold, numbing all his senses. The harsh need to breathe dawns in his mind, but he tries his best to ignore it.
He feels something akin to cold hands cradling him soothingly. He leans into the hug and closes his blurry eyes, embracing the feeling of his consciousness leaving him. It's nice.
That is, until he's rudely snapped back to reality.
Or; Mer!Chuuya saves Monster Hunter!Dazai from a suicide attempt by turning him into a mermaid.

Staring at the injured fish in front of him, he quickly assesses the situation before the hunters can return. It’s a man who looks to be in his early twenties with chocolate hair and hazy eyes. His pupils are dilated to the point of almost filling rusty brown irises with black while a slight dribble of blood flows down his neck, leading Chuuya to believe that he was drugged.
His point is further proven when the mermaid tries to talk, syllables barely making any sense, “Guh, bluu… cab.”
Or; Chuuya meets a peculiar creature about to be taken by hunters. He feels that he has a duty to save the mermaid.
