The tarot cards she drew for her friends at the start of the trip start seeming less like random draws and more like warnings from the universe as coincidences keep adding up. As the world she knew crumbled beneath her, Talullah has to quickly discover how to stop death before it was too late.
[TLDR: What Final Destination is like for a side character- one that didn't see the premonition but has to rely on the visionary.]

To cure his ails he goes across the little house office to go visit White, the latest recruit, their clairvoyant, and his fast friend- and the boy offers a simple tarot reading. Naib doesn't expect the cards to imply that he thinks of White as more than workplace friends.

Naib grits his teeth again, mouth aching like a lonely dog worrying at one bone too much. He feels that his ribs worry at the meat of his soul, under the pit of his heart. Are the cards trying to say he should leave his job? Are they telling White about some curling of distaste regarding him? He wants to reach over the table, grab the boy by the scarf, rattle him and say something worthwhile. Nothing comes out of his mouth. He sits there with his hat crumpled in his lap from where he had kept a vice grip on it. “Get on with it, please.”
