Summary
The whole world was nothing but darkness and pain but, somehow, he knew of these things from beyond it.
…
“Mydeimos,” the thin one said again.
Mydeimos. That high, firm voice.
Mydei. That low, soft voice.
These five knew something. Knew him or those voices.
So he gave them those two words burrowed somewhere deeper than his mind or body. Aedes Elysiae.
When Mydei finally emerges from the Sea of Souls after nine harsh winters, the most precious thing in the world to him isn’t his name, his body or his life. But two words he can’t remember the origin of: Aedes Elysiae.
As the years pass in exile, he finds himself plagued by knowledge that comes from the same maybe-past or maybe-future that wasn’t quite Mydei’s and yet was.
It took four years for him to stumble across Aedes Elysiae, a boy that calls the place home, and why those words were engraved upon his soul.

Summary
“First to get to the Bacchanal's wins” the sound of hurried footsteps hit his ears way before the voice did, even within the noisy Okheman market. Another day, another competition.
Even if the upbeat voice of Okhema's very own golden boy hadn't been so intimately familiar to him the challenge itself would have given him no doubt of who he was dealing with, pushing his buttons has never been on many people's agenda. Only one fool would always dare challenge him, only one fool would always be capable of roping him along with his shenanigans without fail and today too would be no different, dancing along to the other's whims.
“Loser offers” he shouts back as if they hadn't done this tens of times before, terms already carved in stone.

“Mydei. Mydei, it’s me. Phainon!”
At that, Mydei’s lip curled from its frown into the slightest, lazy smile and hope sparked in Phainon’s chest. Of course Mydei would recognise him even like this. So long as Mydei knew the truth, he could contact Cipher or Anaxa and surely their individual specialisations would be able to—
“You are a noisy one, aren’t you?” Mydei teased.
Ah. That was a bit of an issue. Mydei didn’t recognise him after all. That was fine. A minor setback really. Phainon had overcome worse odds before. He could do it again! Even in the body of a chimera.
Through a bit of Zagreus’ trickery attached to a mirror, Phainon takes on the appearance of a chimera and spends the day with Mydei. Despite how humiliating it is, Phainon is relieved that no one can understand him and figure out his true identity while he waits to return to normal.
After all, only people who receive a blessing of Cerces can understand chimera speech. And no one else. Right?

“Have you considered appealing the verdict?”
Mydei scoffed at the naivety and pushed off the wall. “I’ll handle it.”
This time, Phainon very deliberately ignored the cue of his dismissal and followed. “How?”
“None of your concern.”
Eight months into the Kremnoan detachment’s assimilation into the city and the case of Okhemans thieving weapons from the Kremnoan detachment’s armoury seems unsolvable. The city’s laws, regulations and the sentiments of its citizens make it so.
It falls to Mydei to prevent the relationship between the two from spiralling into riots through the streets. But every avenue is a dead end. A situation that becomes more impossible the more he tries to resolve it.
The solution comes in an unexpected form, and from an unexpected source.

Summary
“What do you say? Descend to the mortal realm with me, Mydei.”
For a moment Mydei remained silent, still down to the moonlight emitting from his body, too restrained to be thoughtless.
Until Mydei grumbled in a voice rough with as many emotions as he had facets, closer to a mortal than a minor deity, “The black tide will still reach us there.”
Phainon squeezed Mydei tighter, no longer a tease, goading a reaction any number of reactions from him to make up for lost time, but filled with something more. Another emotion more fitting for mortals than gods, weighing his voice and dragging it low. “Better one day than now. And we’ll be together until it does.”
As Amphoreus’ sun and moons, Phainon and Mydei have spent thousands of years keeping the order of day and night balanced. With the black tide and the arrival of the evernight fast approaching, humanity will inevitably lose its celestial bodies.
If it’s the fate of the sky to be empty, then there’s no harm in the sun and moons choosing elopement over destruction.
