“What are you doing down there?” George’s head snaps up to find Dream hanging lazily in the air. “Are you the world’s first mud-talent, or something?”
“No,” George growls, standing up. He glances down at his clothes, now dripping with mud after his many failed attempts. “I’m practicing how to make ripples, if you must know.”
Dream flips upside down, his smile growing even larger. “You’re not very good at it.”George arrives at Pixie Hollow as a brand new fairy, disoriented and alone. He debuts as a water-talent fairy, and yet his heart yearns for the wind against his wings. However, George soon finds out that he is not exactly a natural at flying, or anything really. Regardless of how much the gifted fast-flying-talent Dream teases him, he can't get enough. Of flying...or of Dream.

Summary
Snapback - or whatever - says George hit his head “really freaking hard, dude,” against the pavement rollerblading. Not that he himself can remember the event, or anything really. Well, he knows he really likes twinkies, but that doesn't count because he just discovered that when Dream (fitting nickname) blasted into his hospital room carrying an entire English corner shop in his giant arms.
The first thing George does is to check his photos, where he finds a rather… incriminating picture. Second thing he does is to touch his throat because he feels like he can’t breathe - and feels a cold delicate metal chain resting there. He saw - no he knows - that on Dream’s defined Adam's apple - lay a very similar one.
Right now he is sure of only three things;
One: He likes twinkies.
Two: Backpack will argue with him on anything and lose every time.
And three: Dream is his husband.
Naturally.

George's heart leaps into his throat when he sees just how much danger his dragon's in.
Sapnap's pinned to the ground by a massive dragon bristling with spikes, one paw shoving his face into the dirt and keeping him trapped no matter how much he whines and squirms. Dark smoke pours from the wild dragon's jaws as it sinks its teeth into Sapnap's saddle, tugging hard enough to lift Sapnap's chest off the ground.
It's going to kill him.
George reacts without thinking. He grabs onto the dragon's tail because it's the only thing he can reach, yanking as hard as he can, and the startled grunt it lets out is followed by its tail slamming into his chest.

George is a dragon rider, Sapnap's his dragon; though they don't have a shared language, they've learned to understand each other. When they crash in dragon territory, they run into a wild dragon named Dream who hates humans and would like nothing better than to kill George. Unfortunately for him, Sapnap is willing to protect George with his life, so Dream is forced to put up with a human living in his cave while Sapnap heals. . .and in the process, Dream and George both learn how many things they've been wrong about.

He studied the elephant for a moment, its pinkish color glinting in the moonlight from his window in just the right spots. George felt drawn to the crystal in such a way that would only be contained in the privacy of his bedroom—with himself and himself alone.
It was stupid, really. It was an easy throwaway joke that was handed to Dream when he placed the order. But for George, it was the closest thing he had received from Dream.

George takes a step forward, putting himself in Dream’s personal space. Dream’s hands are immediately on him.
“I don’t care what they think of me.”“But I care, My Prince.”
Dream kisses the corner of George’s mouth, and then puts distance between them once again.
After a failed assassination attempt, Dream admits he has feelings for George, but he still refuses to take a step forward with him. So George does the next rational thing - he starts hiring killers for himself.

George took a breath in. “You look—” golden, like sun rays through the tattered screens of a back porch. Like a rocking chair and the wind chime that trilled with every gentle gust of wind. Like chips in the paint. Like cracks in the wood. Like sandals scattered along the lawn. The colors of summer, and how nostalgia blanketed them, made them look like a place you used to know and love. “—like Dream.”

Another gust of wind sweeps through the forest and George flinches, pulling his hood over his face as he waits for it to fade.
What am I even supposed to do? Where can I sleep? Everywhere is soaking wet.
. . .the human camped nearby usually has a fire lit at night, right?
As soon as the idea pops into his head, he knows it’s a stupid idea. But what other choice does he have? The cave will be dry and warm and he can just sneak inside and hide somewhere out of the human’s sight. It’s far less risky than trying to spend the night outside in the freezing cold.

George is a wild borrower, living in the woods instead of taking the risk of staying in a human's home. But when the approaching winter becomes a dangerous threat to his safety, he realizes that relying on a human might be the only way for him to survive the cold.
