Summary
A week after returning from their Nationals tournament, the yellowjackets are trapped at school when a mysterious lockdown is issued across the state of New Jersey. After days of growing anxious in the school with no answers, a small group decides to break their lockdown to go and search for a missing teammate.
But when a crowd of cannibalistic strangers suddenly attacks the school, they are forced instead to fight for their lives, their school, and each other. But the initial outbreak is only the beginning.
Those unfortunate enough to survive quickly learn the horrors have barely begun. As the world burns down around them, they will have to work together to survive a relentless onslaught of the living dead.
And when it becomes clear that the fight will never end, they have to start creating their own rules to adapt to their new harsh environment while trying to build a better world than they lost. But the echoes of the lost world may prove too powerful to overcome, and the monsters populating the new world are hungry.
Invasive Species blends action and horror to create suspenseful setpieces in a story about the costs of survival, and the moments in between that make life worth living.

Summary
Laura Lee had done everything right. She did everything exactly as the manual had described. The plane's engine had sputtered, the propellers had turned on, and then it jolted forward maybe an inch before dying. No matter how many times she kept trying, it wouldn't come back to life again.
It reminded Lottie of when her mom first tried to show her how to drive, and Lottie couldn't get the car out of the driveway without it stalling. Except there was something much more fundamentally wrong with this plane than a dumb teenager who didn't understand how to work a clutch.
Whether it was a matter of gas or something deeper within the engine, it wasn't clear. The only thing that was clear was that it wasn't working. The moment with Jackie when they first found it had been just that — a moment.
It wasn't Laura Lee's fault. They'd all seen it come to life twice. It just wasn't meant to last.

Laura Lee watched the chaos unfold like someone watching a firework explode too close to a gas station. Her stomach fizzed—she couldn’t tell if it was from nerves, alcohol, or the smell of weed creeping under the window. Maybe all three.
She wasn’t scared. Not really. She just… hadn’t kissed anyone since Jeremy-from-church-camp, who’d turned out to be the kind of Christian that mocked you the second you prayed in public. He said she kissed like a teacher’s pet. She said he kissed like he was scared of women. They never spoke again.

Summary
Miraculously, Laura Lee survives the second plane crash, shifting the path she seemed destined to follow. Unfortunately, she's now stranded miles away from the other Yellowjackets, armed with only a compass and her faith to lead her home. Challenged in every aspect of her character, the former cabin-sweeper must fight and adapt to her circumstances to survive, even if it means losing some of the fundamental parts of herself.
Back at the cabin, the girls deal with the fallout of her death and the tensions the situation brings. Pent up in the cabin like a powder keg, a small spark could blow their fragile group apart. By the end of the winter, will there be anything for Laura Lee to come back to?

Summary
An angel appeared above her at that moment. The most beautiful thing Laura Lee had ever seen, familiar brown eyes looked down upon her. A perfectly manicured hand reached out for her- and when she tried to grasp the girl: she missed by a fraction. Lottie’s clean and clear expression morphed into something like fear, then disappeared entirely. Where she once was, the sun shone on Laura Lee’s face. Her prophet’s vision finally coming to fruition.
The world went blindingly white with pain, and a flaming blast of air pushed her back further. For a few more seconds, Laura Lee felt nothing but air beneath her. She thought about how far she had gotten over the lake and started to wonder if she was still over the water at all.
And then she hit the ground.

There is a story where It gets just that: every person on that flight fed into It’s ravenous maw.
This isn’t that story, though; this is the story of how the Wilderness lost to a weird little theater kid and a devout Christian who watched a movie.

It would make sense, Laura Lee reasoned, if her… interest in Lottie Matthews had begun because she had sensed something holy about the girl. It would make sense if some part of her had known, deep down, that she was chosen. Or, even, if she had somehow sensed that Lottie needed her help to see the truth. That maybe she had always been drawn to her because she was meant to show her the light.
But, as much as Laura Lee tried to convince herself that either of these were the case, she couldn’t deny that she’d been interested in Lottie before the plane had even crashed.
