Summary
What if Merlin gave Arthur different advice and in turn Arthur made a different choice in S5E5: The Disir. Magic would have become accepted in Camelot early in season 5 and changed the entire course of the show.
Magic reveal/Canon end fix/Magic returned to Camelot/In Character/Butterfly effect story/Realistic Alternative Ending.
A season 5 re-written style story as close to what really could have happened in the show as I could get it.
Canon relationships only.

Summary
Merlin finally loses all hope that everything he’s done has been for the good of others and for the sake of his destiny. His father appears to him as a spirit and shows him a vision of all that would’ve gone wrong had Merlin never traveled to Camelot. An alternate world/events that would’ve occurred.
It all starts with Prince Arthur, Merlin couldn't save him from the witch...
[I kind of hate this story. I love the concept, but not the execution of it. I'd like to come back to this in the future, but for now this story is just chilling.]

Summary
Arthur swiveled over to face him. "I'm not afraid of death," he said, voice grave and features serious. "It’s bound to happen eventually. And to be honest, I'd rather it be at Mordred's hand than Morgana's."
"But Arthur -"
"Relax, Merlin," Arthur cajoled. "Besides, this might work out in my favour."
"How so?"
He grinned. "If Mordred is destined to kill me, then that means nothing else can."Series
