Doc still heard that moment. He heard it in his mind, felt it in his bones, the prickle up his skin, and he knew he’d never felt anything worse. He’d had his arm and his eye taken. He’d been augmented down to his bones against his will when he wasn’t even yet eighteen, still a child under some tormented, twisted version of care. Yet that hadn't been it.
That hadn't been the worst thing he’d ever felt. The worst way he'd ever felt. Because in that moment, he'd have given anything...to save his everything.
Because before he had kids, before he had friends, before he had the labs, before all of that...he'd had Etho. And that had already made it unbearable enough.
{In which Doc has a nightmare, Etho is right there, and there are a lot of bad memories...but none could ever deny that they were broken and bent and built for each other.}

When Mumbo’s fluttering eyelashes parted ways to stare at the expanse, the first thought that came to mind was that suit clung far too heavily to skin. The second thought, more reasonable for someone in this situation compared to complaint, was the far superior thought to be considered. Where am I?

It’s only then did he even consider the sun being quite off. A blaring red ball of light sitting in the sky, without a cloud in sight. Not that much could be seen at all among the skies, for only the rings of crimson hue dancing around the ball in the sky gave off any light at all, dark for all but the all consuming red.

As the silence filled the room, Etho simply nodded. “Impulse is coming later today to check you out. He was out at False’s base, then he’ll be over here.”
“Did Jimmy convince you to do this?” Tango said, fighting to keep his voice even. The anger started to rise in him.
He got that they were concerned, but he was fine. He could handle this to make his friends proud and give them a break. Why couldn’t they understand that?
“No. He asked me to talk to you. I chose to call Impulse. I’m not convinced that you don’t have redstone poisoning, and Impulse knows the signs better than I do.”
“And so what if I do? It’s not affecting me! Let me decide what I can handle,” Tango’s voice started to rise.

There was a flash of wings. “Ren!” A familiar voice shouted. He caught a brief glimpse of Gem grabbing the railing and looking at him. Wes appeared next to her a moment later. There was a flash of dark wings. Diving, Mumbo reached out. The wind whipped around them.
Stretching, Mumbo shouted, “Grab my hand!”

In which Ren and Martyn go on a date in the Undercity, and things go wrong before they can ever start to go right, and Martyn ends up discovering the Labs the hard way, and Ren is almost destroyed…and the Slab family and Ren’s clan try to help where they can.

Tango crouched on a tangle of redstone lines, trying to figure out what had gone wrong. He liked fixing redstone. Redstone was kind. Straightforward. It either worked or it didn't. Forget some dust here, flip too many ticks on a repeater there, and it broke. Set it to order and everything was fine again. The challenge was only in figuring out where he'd gone wrong. Retracing his steps.

Hermitcraft was a safe haven away from the hybrid hunters. Gem’s herd was also supposed to be a safe haven. They were tucked away, and had lived peacefully since years before Gem was born. They lived detached from the rest of the worlds, and Gem knew little of anything outside of the meadow.
Gem would be a perfect fit for hermitcraft, with her eye for design. If only she knew it existed and there could be hope for people like her.OR

She came too like climbing up from deep water. It took time to sort out the groggy state, but surely it was shorter than she believed because things slowly started to move back into focus. It had really been ridiculous to trust them outright.
But Bdubs deserved so much more out of them than this. To have the little boy taking care of them for all these years…knowing he was putting himself in danger for them. It was really a wild thing, to have so fully embraced the fact that she was Bdubs’ mother. It had been years already since they’d first met in that trash heap, and Bdubs had saved their life. She’d sworn to protect him next time. Yet with their nonfunctioning augment, it was impossible. There was nothing she could do about it.
It was pure frustration. Maybe that was why she was willing to throw caution to the wind and trust the towering creeper mutant whom Bdubs had dragged back with him today? It would be better than just continuing to be a weight upon this little boy she'd come to love so dearly, and so, it was just fine.{In which Cleo has some questions, Bdubs loves his Mom, Doc and Etho are scheming, and it feels good to finally carry some weight}

Tango was fumbling with one of the little fidget devices he’d built over the years, made from scraps or odds and ends from the labs, they could spin, blink, roll around, or do countless other little things. When he wasn’t in the mood to work on any handicrafts like glassmaking, he would disassemble and reassemble all these little things instead. Today, unlike usual, he had company. Company in the form of his boyfriend...and wasn't that such a strange thing to think? Then again, stranger had happened. From the spark in Zed's eye when the redstone lit up, to the sight of the glass beads adorning sun kissed skin, all Tango could hope for was to always manage to keep Zed's eye. Considering the gaze of pure adoration he was under, to the point he was flaring again, well...that might not be such a challenge at all.
{In which redstone gadgets are cool, Tango fights his emotions and loses, and flares aren't about to stop Zed anytime soon.}

He groaned and sat on the ground, pulling the bucket of dust towards him. This should have been some fun thing for him to do, something to make him and his team happy. Now he was just stuck with a bunch of redstone he had tirelessly mined for.
