Summary
When Tommy was four he was found for the first time and subsequently hidden by a still skittish Grian who'd just joined for Season 6 of Hermitcraft. He didn't stay hidden for long. Xisuma's first step in gaining Grian's trust was letting him keep Tommy. So Tommy stayed and he aged and he grew up under the watchful eyes of all of the Hermits. He was Grian's, but Hermits were family, so he was everyone else's responsibility too.
When Tommy was ten, Season 8 started, and his world began to shatter. He'd survived two server jumps before this. It shouldn't have been any different, but something went wrong. Tommy was lost. Unable to return to the place he considered his true home.
When Tommy is seventeen, he finally gets to go home. Like all things Tommy, trouble follows him. Unlike the fair weather family and friends he'd experienced in the past, the Hermits weren't so willing to give up on him just because a little bit of trouble. They just needed a little time to remind him of that.

Meanwhile Grian escapes the Watchers and server hops to not get captured again.

Summary
"Puffy told us about Connor" Dream jolted up, the glasses slipping forward on their nose and causing them to hiss out in sudden pain.
Eret jumped into action, having them lean back and the glasses going back further on the face again.
"Dream please calm down" Eret begged, flinching at the way the place they were sitting at was now missing.

Dream is set free after four long years of isolation, no longer going to be tortured and beaten by Quackity.
At least, he thinks.
With the server dying, people are evacuated with the last of Dream's abilities as a server admin, locking them up until the server is completely gone and they can make a new one, under watch of course.
Sent to live in a temporary server with the rest of the SMP, Dream and the others have to deal with making things through till they are all cleared by the council.
Now with a child, a paid for apartment leased under contract, and a job with community service as someone on parole, still underwatch by those of the server, Dream feels the weight of reality on their shoulders.
Perhaps domestic life might do them some good, if not, then the PTSD might drive them further into insanity.

Breathing fire definitely counts as an advantage.
Unfortunately the fire hadn’t burned through the net, which seemed reinforced with something that couldn’t be reduced to ashes. The area in front of Dream, on the contrary, still held the sputtering purplish glow and the grass underneath was blackened and dead.

Tommy’s 3, and he smiles up at Phil, shaping his hands like his father. He put his hands into circles, pressing them together to make something that resembled an infinity sign but was really just the BSL sign for the letter b.
He smiles proudly up at him, and they move on to a couple more letters before Phil checks to see if he remembers them.
“Okay, Tommy,” he signs, presumably saying it as well as his mouth moves; Tommy’s deaf, he can’t hear what he’s saying. It’s the point of the lessons, and Tommy remembers that Phil had rented out a couple books from the library on sign language to teach him.
