Geralt didn't flinch, it was nothing he hadn't heard hurled at him before, usually followed by a derisive laugh from the speaker. The stranger in the gym might not have even meant for him to hear the word.
Even when people had heard about Witcher Syndrome, they seemed to forget about the more acute senses, like hearing. So he pretends that the insult had just been an aside that the man behind him had meant to keep to himself, and continues his workout.

Witcher Syndrome is a disorder that causes genetic mutations to occur to those who develop it. While some symptoms could almost be considered advantageous, others are clearly detrimental to those affected. As with any disability, there are those with prejudices against those that are “other” or “different”.
Geralt has spent most of his life learning to protect himself from being hurt by those who won’t understand that his differences don’t make him a freak.
But, it will take someone with quite a lot of zest for life and self-love, to show Geralt how to be okay with himself, and to remind him that at the end of the day, he is still only human.
Someone like Jaskier.

Geralt can honestly say that he is happy with his life. He hasn't had the best childhood and neither did his time in the military do him any good. There was that hot but also horrible relationship with Yennefer. But now, he is happy. He loves his job at the hospital, he loves his adoptive daughter, he loves his brothers who live in the same city.
Which is why he doesn't need anything to change. He's not looking for a relationship, there has been enough heartbreak in the past, thank you very much.
If only it weren't for the new doctor with his crazy blue eyes and his flirty smiles who keeps making him want things he hasn't wanted in years. Yennefer's hand drifts over the rubbish bin, centimetres away from tossing the letter she holds into the trash (because seriously, who sends letters anymore?) when she freezes. It's addressed to Yennefer of Vengerberg, which is not surprising because that is who she is and yes, she does in fact live at the location designated below her name. The surprising part is the return address: Studio Aretuza, Thanedd Isle, Temeria.
There's a vaguely familiar logo stamped on the corner, a simple yet elegant trident dividing the letters H and K. It's the symbol of Hell's Kitchen, the television show. From what she can gather, the show is just another excuse for Tissaia to be even more of a rigid, neurotic control freak than she already is. Not exactly Yennefer's idea of a good time.
But... sheer curiosity gets the better of her. Deft hands swiftly tear open the envelope, unveiling the letter within before she can stop herself.
