So, he'd have to stay in his dorm, put himself in lockdown, and hope it all goes away in the next second. His nerdy interests make it even worse, considering his own cabin makes fun of him. His only chance to get away is by going on a dangerous quest with an immature girl and a clumsy loud teen.
