Summary
Phainon is an ordinary fisherman. He lives the mundane life—wake up, eat, fish, sleep, repeat. He longs for adventure—like the pirates in the fairytales he hears while passing by the storytellers entertaining children at the bustling ports—but those are only myths.
Until he comes across a pirate ship's nets kidnapping a mermaid—no, merman. Who is... absolutely ethereal, captivating Phainon's heart in one fell swoop.
So he kidnaps the merman from the pirates. And falls in love.

Through a series of events that may or may not have involved a Kremnoan courting ritual, Phainon had somehow managed to ask for Mydei's hand in marriage.

Phainon shook his head with a sigh. “You know,” he began, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against the wall, “you’re a lot more attractive if you’re only singing and playing the guitar.”
Mydei frowned at the backhanded compliment. Then, in the hopes of turning this situation on him and catching him tongue tied instead, he raised a brow. “You find me attractive?”
Unfazed, Phainon shrugged. “So what if I do? It doesn’t mean anything.”
He almost convinced both of them that it was nothing. But Phainon’s expression darkened, just a little bit, and he glanced at Mydei once more. “Unless, of course, you want it to.”

Because the Flame-Chase is failing in their duty to protect Amphoreus from the relentless progress of Castrum Kremnos’s war machine. None of those responses are good enough; Death will demand more of him—more truth, more vulnerability.
“We need the crown prince of Castrum Kremnos to turn the tide of the war,” he says.
To stop the advance of Eurypon's war machine on Okhema, Phainon descends into the underworld to bring the long-dead Mydeimos back to life.

-Mydei shuts the door.
The first thing that comes to mind is utter rage. How dare an alpha invade his space and ask him to get out on top of it? It just takes about every ounce of Mydei’s rational thought to not storm in there and throw the shithead out.
No – he needed to make sense of this all, first.
Phainon was indeed in rut. And Phainon was indeed in his room.
Mydei just did not understand why he had sought out another alpha’s room of all places for refuge.
Phainon never grew up as a normal alpha. Or had a healthy rut. Or felt all the protective, affectionate, possessive instincts towards omegas to their full extent as he should.
Then Mydei enters his life. The final nail in the coffin establishing his abnormality.
And now Mydei has to deal with a cranky alpha in rut invading his bedroom.

Mydei slowly straightens his posture, eyeing Phainon critically.

“I don’t really remember…” how they even got here, for one. Nevermind how they ended up together in bed—“Oh. Wait—my ass isn’t even hurting…” he mutters. Which, unfortunately, leads to another question he’s almost afraid to ask. Almost. "Uhm… is your ass… hurting?"
Mydei lifts his head enough to stare incredulously at Phainon behind the curtain of his ruffled hair. "No.”
When Phainon thinks of Mydei, the first thing that usually comes to mind is: Wow, he’s so hot.
But that thought is always—always—followed by a flash of irritation, especially when the memory of the preparations for the campus-wide debate competition is still so fresh in his mind. Phainon still hadn’t quite recovered from the weeks of battle it took to get the event going.
So really—never in a million years did Phainon think he’d wake up in bed with Mydei.
