Summary
This is an alternative universe for the Marauders that is constantly on my mind. The characters are millenial born in the 90s and teenagers in the 2010's expecially in 2014. Based on the song New Romantics by Taylor Swift and that vibe.
Everything is practically the same as in canon except they are muggles. And Hogwarts is a prestigious boarding school.
Remus & Sirius are childhoood friends who meet at ten because the Lupins used to work for the Blacks. But for circumstances they break apart. But Remus gets a scholarship to Hogwarts in sixth year. Muggleborns= Scholarshipped kids. Purebloods= Rich kids. More like. There is still discrimination for the scholarshipped ones. -

Summary
Told through two interchanging timelines (his youth and his final years) Remus tries to reunite four rings of significance for the Marauders after their deaths to return them to Harry.
This story has a transgender Remus Lupin, using he/him pronouns and never stating his dead name. Tonks is also gender-nonconforming, however, even when masculine presenting she/her pronouns are used.
Most events and dates are canon-compliant, however, I have taken some liberties to make the storylines fit/make sense and shifted the date of vague events slightly.
Specific trigger warnings will be given before their relevant chapters.

Sirius lost some weight over the summer because of his mother, and now Remus feels the need to starve himself to be worthy of his friend. He has a crush on Sirius but knows nothing can happen between them because he’s trans and, in his eyes, too fat to ever be worthy of love.
So he makes a 5-step plan to deserve his friend and all he has to offer ( even if he thinks Sirius is straight).—————————————-
In short, Remus starves himself to be worthy of Sirius. His friends notice something‘s off, and even the teachers start to worry. He‘s trans and his friends don’t know except for Lily. -

Regulus watches the car approach from the balcony, the music blaring. As if the whole ordeal wasn't over the top enough, he starts honking along to the beat, before he sticks his head out the open driver window and whoops loudly. Regulus rolls his eyes but there's a small fond smile pulling at the corner of his lips as he steps back into his room and makes his way down the stairs to greet the newcomers. One could say he skipped down the steps, although he would vehemently deny this observation.
It's not that Regulus isn't happy Sirius seems to have made such good friends while he was away. Of course he's happy for his brother. But he won't lie and say he's excited necessarily about having three strangers in his house. Strangers who all know each other, who already have comfortable dynamics he's somehow meant to fit into. It's… daunting.

“Remus, he needs someone who can connect with him…” Minerva’s voice had a desperate edge to it, “He doesn’t trust us.”
“And you think he’ll trust me? I’m as much a stranger to him as you.” He turned his eyes to Dumbledore, pushing past the discomfort as they made eye contact and his soul was pierced by the shrewd gaze.
“We think he may trust you because you and he have similar… backgrounds.”
He frowns at her, trying to put the pieces of what she’s saying together. Similar backgrounds? Shitty childhoods, maybe?
“Harry was not attacked.” Dumbledore says, breaking the silence, “He perpetrated it.”
A cold chill runs through Remus’ body. His mouth is suddenly far too dry and he feels as if bands wrap around his chest. He shakes his head.
“What?” He wheezes out, feeling all at once that his chest will cave in when he hears what Dumbledore has to say.
“I’m sorry to have to tell you this.” Dumbledore sounds truly grieved, and Remus feels bile rise in his throat. He’d used that same tone of voice when he’d found him after news about James and Lily, Peter and Sirius had broken. Had it really already been four years since he’d lost them?
“Harry is an Obscurial.”
