“What do you want to do?”
Steve pauses and looks at them.
What he wants is to stay with them. He doesn't have any family left, they all died before he even joined the war and became... this. Captain America turned whatever he is now. But Natasha and Sam have become his family over the years. Not just because they're on the run together, fugitives and vigilantes, but way before that too.
He doesn't want to leave that.
But he knows that, realistically, he can't stay with them and they can't stay with him.
So he looks at them with a smile and lies. “I don't know.”

Summary
Bucky is tying to fix the wreckage of his mind bit by bit, memory by memory. Through triggers, both good and bad, he's slowly recovering the things he's lost and piecing them back together again to try and figure out who he is now.
He needs a place to stay while he sorts himself out and he finds himself in a small, Long Island town called Oyster Bay.

Never once had Rune gone under inside warmth. It was always piercing cold when her eyes closed, pain needling through her limbs before she finally succumbed. But this time there was no pain, no cold, no numbness. If anything, it felt like being stretched out on a sunny beach, the sand soft and warm around her. Occasionally she’d feel an ache or two in her bones, almost like a growing pain, but she’d take that over the pain of cryo any day. In fact, she’d take floating in this warm place over a lot of things.
