Summary
In truth, Mydei had nothing but admiration for Phainon. That man had the world in the palm of his hand, a boy from a small village moving to the city to chase his dream, those were the kinds of stories that movies were made of. He had found his success at The Grand Chrysos, making a name for himself and the village that he had come from, praising the local cuisine of Aedes Elysiae. He had built himself up from nothing with his own two hands, and Mydei would not deny that he was envious of Phainon’s journey.
He, in return, had his life served to him on a silver platter. A set path, no need to worry about money, no need to chase his true ambitions or desires. If he had wished to stay to his path then he would have slipped through his life in a breeze, never knowing or feeling anything real.
Phainon was real, Mydei was sure of that.

Oh, this man is going to be ‘the death’ of him—the thought (bittersweet in a warm way) crosses Mydei’s mind, almost drawing a smile to his face.
3.0 TB quest-following fic with added missing scene events ft. an unholy amount of introspection. The main focus is on the evening after the fight with Nikador - Phainon and Mydei share a hot bath. Phainon comes because he cares about Mydei's state, yet the upcoming trial weighs heavily on him, and he might need something to hold onto. Light mentions of 3.1 events and a future outlook in the epilogue. This is my love letter to these two wonderful men.

“Time?” Mydei asks softly.
Phainon checks it on his teleslate. “Second quint of Action Hour,” he murmurs back. “You could continue sleeping, if you wanted to.”
Mydei shakes his head just a little, his hair splayed out like a radiant sun behind him. “No need,” he says, his voice still a little scratchy from sleep.
Mydei always does things to Phainon, and now the white-haired warrior has a thousand thoughts rushing through his mind. However, none of the thoughts translate to eloquent words, because one singular sentence comes tumbling out before Phainon can control it.
“I want to kiss you,” he says stupidly.
Phainon and Mydei spend a leisurely rest day together after Mydei returns from a solo mission late.

Mydeimos the Crown Prince of Castrum Kremnos had just arrived to Okhema. His life had always been a constant between fighting and the weight of duty, never had a moment to think about other things that weren't the burden of the his people's fate over his shoulders and the prophecy looming over his every action.
Things began to change when he met Phainon of Aedes Elysiae an alpha that shared a very similar burden, the Prophecized Deliverer of Amphoreus, a role model for many. When they were together they found out they could just simply be themselves, Mydei and Phainon happily enjoying the simple pleasures life had to offer them.
Of course their happiness wouldn't be well-received by everyone.

Phainon is a man possessed. Eyes wild and unfocused, face stained with tears and ash. He blinks, shock flooding his features, and tries to step back, but Mydei holds the sword firmly.
Mydei sighs. “Found you….”
Phainon shakes his head. “No. No, please,” he whispers, voice raw.
Mydei reaches a hand out, but stops as Phainon flinches back. Cautiously, he says, “Phainon, it’s alright, you need—”
“Not him.” Phainon lets go of his sword. It slides off of Mydei’s pauldron and falls to the ground with a thump. “Not him too, please,” Phainon begs. “Please.”
Or, Mydei suffers fiercely in the fight against Nikador, but eventually Strife falls. An Heir must take up the Flame. Mydei’s fear of taking up that mantle, of leading his people down the wrong path, is assuaged by Phainon stepping up to take the Coreflame of Strife. So why can Mydei not sleep? What haunts Phainon’s strength of will, and can Mydei save him from it?
Or, missing scenes from after the battle with Nikador, and an alternative take on the Trials of Strife in 3.1.
