    Summary

"It’s not that his peers are inherently cruel to the Quirkless. Izuku firmly believes that, if the truth ever got out to his classmates, they would still welcome him with open arms. At the same time though, acceptance does not necessarily mean they are well-informed on the subject. His classmates might be well-intentioned, but sometimes the words that come out of their mouths cut deeper than even he could have ever expected."

    OR

In which Izuku possesses the words and knowledge to try and correct his classmate's misguided beliefs concerning Quirkless people, but actually communicating them is another challenge altogether.

“Poor guy…” Uraraka starts as they’re heading back to school. “I really hope he’s going to be alright.”

“I’m sure he will be.” Izuku answers automatically.

“I just wish there was something more we could do to help him.”

Izuku wants to tell them that there is. He wants to lay out all the facts and statistics regarding Quirklessness and explain the systemic issues and biases in place that make living as a Quirkless person much harder than it has any right to be.

This explained why the media didn’t know much about All Might’s family, despite their ferocious curiosity about his life. Izuku said, “I just assumed…I think Todoroki is going to forgive his father…I thought that was what heroes do. They always forgive people.”

Toshinori said, “Young Todoroki needs to do what is right for him. You have to do what is right for you. Heroes don’t have to be perfect paragons. I’m the number one hero, but I can be petty. I got way more satisfaction from suing my relatives than is probably healthy. I sent a couple to jail for breaking into Might Tower and stealing from me.”

    Summary

She's about to turn away when she sees a figure leaning against the wall of the club, looking at her. At almost half her height, the small, unimposing figure leers at her up and down and says, expectedly, “You look lost, girl. Need some help finding your way?”

On any other night, she would’ve sneered and knocked this guy’s lights out just for looking at her like that, but now? She tries to find the place where her fire used to be and finds flickering embers.

“Fuck off,” She mumbles, only finding the strength to speak on autopilot.

He gives her another look, more appraisingly this time. His beady eyes take in her blood-soaked wraps, her clenched fists, and her well-defined shoulders, unusually exposed in the dim light. Unexpectedly, he asks, “You know how to fight, kid?”

Vi blinks dazedly. Almost doesn’t know how to answer. Finally says the words, rolling them around in her dry mouth: “Yeah. Yeah, I know how to fight.”

“We… kind of didn’t think you’d care,” Tucker said. […]

“I mean, you are kind of a big deal now,” Sam said, gesturing at him.

Danny crossed his arms.  “I’m sorry? Did you miss the part where I didn’t want to be? […] Should I go hang out with Dash, huh? Or start dating Paulina? Wouldn’t that be just great?”

Sam blinked at him. “Would it not?”

“Of course not,” Danny snapped. “None of them actually give a shit about me. They all just think it’ll get them something if they’re best friends with Phantom. They still don’t like Danny. I don’t want to be friends with people who only ever see one side of me. That—” he looked away.  “That already didn’t work.”

    Bookmarker's Notes

But most importantly, there’s a big scruffy stuffed elephant that Havva, his Nine, had made for him when he was four. The ears are a little too big and the tail is a little weird because Nine had only ever seen an elephant once when she’d made it, but it’s his favorite thing in the world. It smells like strawberries, like their caravan, like his parents. He hugs it tight to his chest, closing his eyes, feeling very, very small.
