Wilson raised an eyebrow. “You wanna bet?”
The idea caused a loud, discordant crash in House’s brain. There was a high likelihood this was a bad bet. Wilson was disconcertingly good in bed, and even though House couldn’t vouch for the female factor, he had no doubt that Mr. “Take My Liver, Please, I Insist” had put in significant hours muff diving. On the other hand, there was a one hundred percent chance that this bet got him in the same room with Wilson and a hooker - the stuff dreams were made of.

The change in House is noticeable the second he steps out of Mayfield. For starters, he looks different. The haircut is new, of course, but that’s not all. He looks… Serene. Content. Like he’s fully present for the first time in 15 years. Wilson’s overcome with so much pride he nearly wants to cry.
He clears his throat instead. “You look good.” He offers.
And then, to his enormous surprise, House hugs him. A hug. Wilson doesn’t remember the last time they hugged. Maybe at his last wedding? Or was it the one before that? It takes Wilson a moment to get over the shock, but after a few seconds he stiffly hugs back.

'But she won't go.' Bilbo's heart crumpled in his chest. He knew what it was to be bullied. As a faunt he had been as troublesome as the other young hobbits, but as a tween he'd struggled to fit in. He had wondered if there was something fundamentally wrong with himself as the other hobbits his age shunned or mocked him. It was part of why the start of his quest with the Company had been so challenging. He'd felt like an outsider all over again, and not just because he was a hobbit among dwarves.
Life was cruel, but Bilbo wasn't.

“I wish I could have changed it all.”
For years Bilbo has written about his adventures and told stories about his dealings with dwarves and dragons. To most it seemed like fanciful nonsense but to Bilbo it was all very real. A weight followed him home from his travels, one called regret. Now in his final moments Bilbo has a choice to make – go quietly into death’s embrace or go back again and face all the fear and pain for the chance to make things right?
Of course, change is a fickle thing and not everything can be done again as Bilbo is about to find out. In the end, it may not only be salvation that he’s fighting for.
