The man was an imposing figure that loomed in her doorway, silhouetted in red light. Smoke billowed like a warning behind him.
“Why are you here?” She signed, hands quivering so hard she wondered whether the words came out clear.
The man only tilted his head, as if trying to decipher the words. Perhaps he couldn’t speak sign language at all. In a clear, very human and not automated voice, he said, “Come on. You should leave before reinforcement comes.”
The man was something from a complete other world—not one of white walls and orderly schedules and chilling experiments, but one of endless forest and devastating virus and calamity.
She wasn’t sure which sounded worse.

The only person who has taken care of Tallulah is her brother Fundy.
Tallulah was told about her mum -Sally- and that is where Fundy and Her get their ability to shapeshift from, not to mention the swashbuckling tales Fundy would weave when she couldn’t sleep. Tallulah just can’t believe she had someone as cool as her mum! Sally was like a legend to Fundy and Tallulah whenever Fundy would talk about her his eyes shone with admiration and love it was very different from when he’d talk about Wilbur. Now,Tallulah didn’t remember much about her dad And even less of her mum, But she couldn’t really connect Willbur -her and Fundy’s dad- she remembers to the Wilbur in Fundy’s stories. So she and her brother(with much protest) set out on a quest to find their parents!Aka a collection of stories of Tallulah and Fundy as they try to find their dad who’s been “on tour” for the past 3 years.

He shakes his head, wiping his newfound tears. "Listen, Lullah, we have this entire house to ourselves for a month." Tallulah winces, and Chayanne does by extension. He continues. "We can form a band by then. If you still feel icky about it, we can disband in July."
The lines are already connecting. Tallulah can handle the technical stuff and Chayanne can continue to rattle off his drums and they can make music here, in their safe haven, just like they used to.
"A one month band?" She blinks. "We can't do much."
Chayanne reaches for her hand, smoothing out the tension deep within her fingers. As if he could dissipate years of worrying, of waiting and watching for someone long adrift. The answer should be simple.
"We can make music."
