"You're not joking, are you?"Shadows and darkness are all Geralt has ever known. As the queen's strongest warrior, he was forced into an engagement with her, forced to stay in her castle as her unofficial prisoner and watch her subjects treat the humans of the land like cattle...until he meets Jaskier, the goofy human servant who reminds him that shadows need light to exist.
When the queen grows jealous and threatens that light, forcing Geralt to claim him in front of the court, they become bound for life and embark on a quest to bring her down. -

A muscle twitches in the witcher’s jaw. He clears his throat. “We recently… reunited. He and I used to travel together.”
“And the moment I can get out of this storm, we will cease ‘traveling together’ once more,” Jaskier says bitterly. Traveling together. Ha. Geralt makes it sound like they were nothing more than acquaintances on the road.
To him, Jaskier supposes it was. Unfortunately, Jaskier’s own heart and mind never received the memo.
Nivellen raises his brows, glancing between them. “Ah. I’ve… prodded something, haven’t I?”
“There is nothing between us to prod. There never was,” Jaskier insists. “Continue your game. I rather enjoy watching Geralt lose.”

Or, Geralt had never called Jaskier a friend, not once in their twenty years traveling together. Now he returns to uproot Jaskier's life, Child Surprise in tow and mentions of an 'old friend' on his lips. It makes Jaskier want to scream.

It’s cold outside, frost bites at ears and nose. Akira could find refuge in Kaer Morhen, if he wanted. However, he refused to bring that curse home with him again. It’d only endanger the few fellow witchers left there. It’d be putting Sojiro in danger.
Sojiro, who lied to him. Withheld the truth of who he was. Akira was still trying to make sense of that. But he can’t do it half asleep while the valley he’s traveling is starting to freeze over. He can only ride until he finds the first cave to settle into.
As luck would have it, Goro is there. A fire set and Loki settled. Golden eyes look up to Akira with a sharp glare. “I was here first, fuck off.”
Akira…deserves that, actually.

“And you drank it.” Vesemir shook his head. “Tell me your senses serve you better on the path.”
There was just a little too much hesitation before the chorus of “…Well-”
A familiar feeling dawned on Vesemir. “This isn’t the worst of it, is it.”
