Louis opened his mouth to respond but faltered, gaze catching on the shoreline.
Harry was toweling his chest dry curls dripping, The sunlight caught the swallows on his chest, and the butterfly tattoo. The laurel leaves dipped dangerously low beneath the waistband of his swim shorts. His skin glistened, hair curling at the ends, mouth parted slightly as he laughed at something Liam said.
Louis blinked, heat rising behind his eyes and ears. His chest felt tight.
“Louis?”
“Huh?”
“I said what’s your”
Then pain exploded through his foot. “AHH! what the fuck?!”
Louis stumbled back, nearly knocking into Niall’s float.
“What happened?!”
“I think, fuck, I stood on something, ow, fuck!”
They both looked down. The water was clear, and sure enough, right by Louis’s foot, was the spiky culprit.
“Mate, that’s a sea urchin!”
“Great! Love that for me,” Louis gritted out, gripping Niall’s shoulder. “It burns! Why does it burn?!”
Niall half laughed, half paddled toward the shore. “C’mon, let’s get you out before you die dramatically in front of arch nemesis”
“Shut up.”
