    Summary

Batman is insulted during a Justice League mission, which wouldn't be a problem except Nightwing is there to hear it. The other League members don't know this is a problem because they have no idea Batman has kids, much less that Nightwing is one of them. Bruce decides to do the only reasonable thing: go on vacation. His children probably won't burn down anything too important.

Dick just wants to defend his family and brag about his siblings. Good thing his father taught him a few things about the importance of detailed plans and talented allies.

In all fairness, Bruce hadn't intended to get drunk. It was an accident. He could not be blamed for this. So what if he accidentally let slip the fact that he had kids? Bruce was at no fault at all. It was the JL's fault for asking so many damn questions.

    Summary

The heroes of the Justice League had decided to take the weekend off and relax. And everybody should be having fun, right? Yeah, no. Apparently not Bruce. And he’s acting even stranger and crankier that the usual, which is definitely a hard feat to put up with.

So, the question is, can Clara find out what’s wrong with her grumpy Bat and comfort him?

Clark liked to think that years of being a superhero and being part of the Justice League had prepared him for everything.

What else could the world throw at him that he hadn’t seen before?

Well, apparently the world could throw Batman walking in with a child in arms, a huge purse on his shoulder, and a gaggle of children chatting and following quick behind him.

flicker of unease crossing his face.

“As I told you, my name is Danny,” he began, his voice soft and shaky. “Though I am also known as Phantom.” He hesitated, glancing down at his hands. They were faintly glowing, trembling just slightly, and he quickly clenched them into fists to stop the movement.

“And you don’t have a last name then? It’s just Danny?” Batman pushed, clearly trying to get something more out of the boy.

Danny’s gaze dropped to the table, his voice tight. “Now I’m just Danny. I don’t have a last name anymore.” His mind flashed back to the screaming match with the Fentons. They had made it very clear that their son had died as soon as he revealed himself as Phantom. No reason to hold onto a name when the people behind it didn’t want you associated with it.

Superman frowned slightly, the furrow in his brow deepening as he watched Danny struggle to steady his breathing. He exchanged a subtle glance with Wonder Woman, who gave a slight nod, silently signaling for him to ease off.

“And where are you from, Danny?” Wonder Woman asked, her tone gentle but probing.

Danny opened his mouth to answer, but the words seemed to catch in his throat. He looked up at the glowing, star-streaked window behind the League, the vast expanse of space beyond it giving him some semblance of calm. But it was fleeting. There was something off about the stars—the way they glittered in unfamiliar constellations, the subtle misalignment of galaxies only he would notice. It was too much. Too big. Too wrong. His breath hitched, and he ducked his head, squeezing his eyes shut as a wave of panic rose in his chest.

He’d felt this before—this crushing weight, like he was too small for the power inside him, too small for the expectations. His hands gripped the edge of the chair tightly, the glowing green light around them brightening for just a moment. It was brief, just a crack in his composure, but when he finally looked up again, his eyes darted toward Batman.

Batman was watching him. Not just observing, but really watching him. His sharp gaze missed nothing—not the slight tremor in Danny’s hands, not the way his breathing had quickened for a moment, nor the way he’d forced himself to calm down. The Dark Knight’s expression didn’t change, but something in his posture shifted ever so slightly, like he’d filed away what he’d seen for later.

“I…” Danny finally said, his voice quiet but steadying. “I’m from Earth. Just… it’s clearly not this Earth. My Earth didn’t have heroes, not real ones anyways.”

The room was silent for a moment as the League absorbed this information. Superman’s expression was thoughtful, Wonder Woman’s eyes gleamed with curiosity, and Green Lantern frowned, skepticism clear on his face.

“So you’re saying you were brought here from… another universe?” Superman asked gently.

Danny nodded, his fingers twisting in his lap. “I think so. One minute I was… in my home, and the next, I could feel something burning and tugging on my core, and now I’m here.”

“The cult,” Batman said, his voice low and certain. “They must have targeted you specifically.”

“Why?” Wonder Woman asked, her brow furrowed. “What would they want with him?”

Danny shifted uncomfortably. “I don’t know,” he admitted. “I didn’t even know I was being summoned. I’ve never experienced that before. I… I just showed up.” It wasn’t the full truth, but given the looks they were giving him, Danny wasn’t sure if revealing everything would help him at the moment.
      -

Danny frowned, clearly unhappy with the idea of being treated once again like a lab experiment, but he nodded reluctantly. “Okay. Just… don’t stick me in some cage or anything, alright? I’ve had enough of that for one lifetime.”

The room shifted. Superman and Wonder Woman exchanged alarmed glances, while Flash’s confident smirk faltered into a look of surprise. Even Green Lantern’s skeptical frown softened slightly, his arms unfolding as he glanced at the others. The idea of placing the boy in a cage had clearly unsettled them.

Batman’s eyes narrowed slightly, though his tone softened—just a fraction—as he stepped forward. “Why would you think we’d put you in a cage?” he asked, his voice still calm, but with a thread of something quieter underneath. Concern.

"All of this to say, due to his need to protect his children, the Justice League was not aware of his family. He had contingency plans in case any of the kids became compromised, but for the most part they were not needed, as his children knew how to stay in the shadows and (mostly) obey orders.

That all changed because of a stupid family tradition."

“Uncle Barry,” Wally said in a tight voice. His eyes betrayed his concern, in more ways than one, when they flicked over to the other occupant of his bed. The only thing visible of him was a halo of long dark hair and the top of his head. If Wally hadn’t looked at him, Barry might very well have missed it entirely, which would have given Wally time to come up with what he was going to say.

If. “If” was the operative word.
