Summary
Set after the end of season five.
In the soot-stained abyss that is Whitechapel, H divisions Inspector Edmund Reid endures as a man hollowed by duty, loss and grief. Around him is a station reshaped with new faces, Scotland Yards evolution brings in new ways and society’s progression brings in new opportunities. For Reid however, the spectres of the past that linger still as sometimes the dead are not the only thing that haunt us.
Bound first by the brutal machinery of crime, Edmund, finds himself and his new colleagues drawn into a critical investigation of self: One which will truly stretch and shape him as he repairs trust, examines conscience and holds steady the unbearable weight of duty.
Dr Greaves was made in Edinburgh, and now she is being forged by Whitechapel, both within the walls of Leman St and beyond. She may bend out of shape, but a society not designed for women may break her still.
This is how I envision Reid’s life carrying on, finally claiming peace and finding order with love, companionship and an eventual happy ending.
Writing this is a joy, researching is a rabbit hole.

After being thrown into the hero business and very quickly becoming tired of its politics, X only has three main goals:
to keep his identity hidden, to stay as far away from the commission and the agencies as possible and to hopefully lose the title of X by the next term. Then he can finally return to his wonderfully predictable life and someone else can try to fix this corrupted system.
Unfortunately for him, fate is a bitch who loves throwing curveballs at him and for some inexplicable reason, the hero that is sunshine incarnate seems hellbent on worming his way into X’s life. At least he buys him snacks.

Distantly, as if through bulletproof glass, she hears the sound of rushing water. She’s standing in front of the shower, watching his brow etched in concentration, watching as he sticks his hand into the water and almost comes out cursing. He makes a few adjustments before he looks back at her, brows furrowed.
“Okay, Sapulpa,” he murmurs. He taps her shirt gently. “Up you go.”
She registers distantly that he’s helping her undress as she pulls her sweater over her head. There are bruises from her fall all over her right side, her skin turning a purplish color.
His jaw ticks, but he says nothing, his eyes glancing from the bruises quickly away. He meets her eyes. “There you go. Think you can manage the rest?”
She nods, too tired to protest and too far gone to blush.
If he had asked her any other day…
“Good. Guess I’ll uh…” Tyler scratches behind his neck, turning around to walk out the door.
“Ty?”
It’s the first thing she’s said in five minutes.
He turns around. “Yeah?”
“Thank you.”
His eyes soften. “Anytime, Sapulpa.”
He turns around again, but this time, he doesn’t try to leave.
She thinks she might fall apart if he did. -
