Raised in the religion-steeped countryside of colonial New England, Aymes Morehill has been taught all his life that deviation from the norm would cause undesirable effects. He goes to church twice a week, pays his tithes diligently like he should, and keeps his hands hard at work at all times to keep from becoming idle. A shining example of morality, Aymes has never once doubted his devotion...so when he suddenly falls into a fever one Sunday morning in a community superstitious and paranoid of change, he finds himself banished and confused, wandering the countryside and searching for answers. That is, until he's stumbled upon by a handsome Alpha--the first he's ever met.

“So… beyond that moment of choice, even the Sisters can’t see the future they weave?”
“Oh, they can see many possible futures, all the different choices you might make. Different ways that the pattern adjusts to flow around that change. It’s just that, until you have chosen, they don’t know which pattern will fill the space.”In which Thor’s coronation comes with a decision he might not be ready to make. (From an old Norsekink prompt.)
P.S. Having trouble with the posting dating. It should be October 1st (which is the date I literally just hit Post), but it's showing the date I started saving the draft way back in September, and if I correct it, the fic disappears! (No, this isn't another weird Creepyfest meta shenanigan. Not by me, anyway.) And if it has the draft date (which isn't when I Published it, obviously), it's sorted under half my September fics. Yargh. I'm gonna see if AO3 help has solutions.

Shinsou & Bakugou fic. Explores the aftermath of a Class 1-A that finds out the truth behind Bakugou and Midoriya's middle school relationship and shuns Bakugou for it against their best wishes, from the perspective of a Shinsou who has recently been added to the class.
---
“Bakugou was an asshole, both before and during the Sports Festival, yeah, but he was a loud asshole. Now the boy is quiet, almost standing apart from the class. No one talks to him but Midoriya and Kirishima, and Kirishima only seems to talk to him when they’re alone. For such a loving, open class, it almost gives him whiplash just how closed off they are with him. Hitoshi almost wonders what he did, but then with a kid like that it could be anything.” -

Bookmarker's Notes
This book (or series, I suppose, but I see it as one long book) is really good, tho it is an interesting one.
In some ways, it falls into some common tropes, and doesn't offer much new in that regard. However, in a lot of other ways, it is still a fun read and does offer some refreshing differences.
A big unique aspect is the focus on wizarding traditions. Whilst I've seen the topic explored before, I've never seen it so... extreme, in some ways. It's wizarding monarchy, through and through. There are traditionalists, non-traditionalists and anti-traditionalists. Whilst I've seen books explore wizarding traditions before, it's usually based on wiccan traditions and culture. This is not. It has some minor influences from it, but a lot of it is royalty and very... old fashioned. It's also quite extreme, so it's not clear cut on whether it's a good thing or not. I, personally, like that. It's flawed and interesting to consider and fun to read about because Harry embraces his heritage and others might not always like that, and that heritage is fairly elitist. It ain't blood purity but it does have some of the same themes, although both sides get vilified. I think that's what makes it so interesting. This does play a big role in the story, and it'll be up to you on whether you like it or not.
The characterisations in this book are pretty well done. Harry ends up having quite a large friend group, which helps make him a lot more well-rounded as a character. It's fascinating to see:
A) how far he comes, as his own character, and how natural it feels. He starts off as probably the most socially awkward kid in history, and a hell of a pushover, desperate for love and affection and protection, but he ends up really strong and fierce, independent but loved, a complete gentleman who can verbally (and also in a duel) eviscerate anyone who is a shitter to him, and doesn't tolerate fools easily, and doesn't forgive easily either. His relationships with his friends feel real and dynamic - he gains some, loses some, feels betrayed, gets closer to, sometimes fights with all of them. This makes it feel all the more real. This ties into the next point:
B) His friends are all unique characters, and the author doesn't mind taking the time for little scenes and conversations and interactions and all the things needed to really get a feel of these characters. I can write well over 2k words just describing some of his friends on detail. It's neat and they add a lot of the levity needed in the books. It's really well done, and adds a LOT to the overall experience. The books aren't overly serious, but Harry is a pretty serious, studious and solemn kid - tho he can be a bit sassy at times. His friends and the fluff in between really lighten the overall mood and help the pacing and story, and in rounding out his character.
The ending is... okay. It's a good ending, but it feels like you've reached the cusp of "ooo this is gonna be the good part, what I've been waiting for!" and then it's like "well that's it then, you can imagine the rest, right?" Which... isn't a great feeling. The pacing can also be a bit off. Third year is literally skipped, and I would've loved to have seen more years in general but it doesn't really allow for that. So yknow. You win some, you lose some.
There's also a lot of tiny plot lines that get dropped all the time. Harry gets snake pets and then they promptly get forgotten. Dumbledore is determined to kill Harry but eventually becomes a fugitive and now I have to assume he just doesn't want to anymore? He seemed pretty determined before. Granger starts reading into Dark Magic and traditionalism and then who knows what happens next. Those are just some examples but there are a lot of little plot points that just... well, get forgotten. Which is a pity, because they sounded like cool plot points.
In any case, it isnt exactly a series I'd reread but I would recommend TO read. It can really damn witty and sharp and fun, and there's relatively no angst. It's not light-hearted, but it's definitely not dark at all and again, is generally just a good experience all around.
