Many places has Mydei called with such a label over his lifetime, from a small space on the shore just by the river of souls, to the makeshift tents made as he travelled with the Kremnoan Detachment, to Okhema even as the people’s eyes cast seething glances at him and his people, and of course Castrum Kremnos whose stories he finally uncovered for himself every day spent within its walls between unceasing battle.
Mydei is no stranger to being away from home. No stranger to the loss of one. No stranger to fighting for one.
Still, as if it were the first time, his throat tightens and gold slips from the corner of his eye to trickle down his cheek despite himself—a sight he would only ever keep within the confines of his heart where none including himself can witness, at least until now.

“Yes?” Mydei looks up from the recipe book he was immersed into, bright eyes free of any concern, and Hephaestion hates the discussion they’re about to have already. He steels himself with a deep breath, smiles with as much affection (a lot) and self-confidence (very little) as he can, and says words he never ever thought would go past his lips:
“Your pet- chimera— thing. I think it's trying to kill me.”
Mydeimos looks down at the chimera quietly napping on his lap, a fluffy ball of blue and white wool rocking with its own peaceful snores. Then, back to Hephaestion, one eyebrow raised in disbelief.

But, this time, the epic of the chosen hero might have another conclusion to its story.
If Phainon could give the world the happiness it deserves, grant his friends the chance to live a life where they won't have to suffer time and time again, living their lives as they should… he would do it all without another beat of his heart, without a single thought in his mind.
