Summary
Valentino isn’t a priority in anybody’s life. But there’s a certain thrill that comes with being with him. He believes a lot of it is getting caught, doing something one shouldn’t be doing, and having potential everlasting consequences if one were ever exposed. Or perhaps it’s the feeling of danger that surrounds him.
Either way, Valentino may not be the priority, but he’s the thrill, the excitement that adds a little bit of spice to an otherwise flavorless life. But just like all spices, too much can make the dish overwhelming. Hence why he’s never anybody’s endgame.
And that’s okay.
It sounds fucked up, but Val really doesn’t mind it. He gets a good lay, gifts, words of affection, and so much more.
When one has all of that, what even is the point of being somebody’s first?
OR
Val has been somebody's second choice for as long as he can remember: it's how he's made a life for himself. That's fine, and it's never bothered him before.

Summary
A few months ago, seeing Val put his hands on a stranger would have driven me wild, but as I watched him take that sinner he met at the club to a private room, I wanted to do nothing else than drink myself numb. When he came back, this feeling of insignificance, of being second-best, haunted me even as we kissed, even though it felt like Heaven for him to sit on my lap. But this wasn’t Heaven and he wasn’t mine.
My dream had been a fantasy that was forever out of reach.

Following the events of Hazbin Hotel Season 1, the Vees are determined to ensure the public is on their side after the recent battle. However, Vox's jealousy and Val's self-destructive nature create tensions in V Tower as their feelings for one another hit their peak. While trying to redeem his soul, Angel Dust believes he needs to break his contract to ascend to Heaven. To self-destruct the Vees, Angel forms a rift in Vox and Valentino's relationship, a crack that reveals how the past was haunting them. When unforgiving bitterness turns to foolish action, Vox and Valentino are forced to face their flaws and true feelings or find themselves deeper than 6 feet under.
